CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1995
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the meeting to order on Monday,
February 27, 1995, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 at Tamarac City Hall, 7525
Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.

Mainlands 1 and 2 - Discussion
Reference was made to an agreement. City Manager Noe suggested offering
Mainlands 1 and 2 a sum of money and returning the responsibility of maintaining the
property and discussion continued.
Mayor Abramowitz requested an Expression of Interest to return maintenance
responsibilities back to the Mainlands and the full Commission concurred.
2. C mm rcial Garbage Frgnchise- Disru§sion
There was discussion pertaining to non-exclusive contracts and increasing franchise
fees 15% to commercial haulers. Dina M. McDermott, Assistant City Manager,
recommended revising the Code regarding franchise fees to include solid waste,
requesting an audit and renegotiating the present contract.

Discussion continued pertaining to recycling rates and single-family garbage pick-up.
There was an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST to increase franchise fees to 15% and the
City Commissioners agreed.
Another EXPRESSION OF INTEREST was held to conduct an audit pertaining to the
present contract and the City Commissioners said agreed.
There was additional discussion concerning recycling and Mayor Abramowitz requested
an Expression of Interest to have Staff revise the Ordinance pertaining to residential
and commercial recycling. The full Commission agreed.

Discussion was held concerning Carla Coleman's report and recommendations and
comments are to be sent to the City Manager and City Attorney.

There was dialogue pertaining to a presentation by Vice Mayor Katz to an associate of
Wayne Huizenga regarding a hockey arena on Land Section 7.
Mayor Abramowitz ADJOURNED the WORKSHOP at 11:10 a.m.

NOTICE OF WORKSHOP MEETING
CITY COMMISSION OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
There will be a Workshop Meeting of the City Commission on Monday, February 27,
1995, at 9:30 a.m., in the Conference Room #1 at Tamarac City Hall, 7525 N.W. 88th
Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.
Discussion will be held regarding the following:
1. Mainiands 1 and 2—Discussion
2. Commercial Garbage Franchise Fee —Discussion
This meeting is open to the public. In the event this agenda must be revised, such
revised copies will be available to the public at the City Commission meeting.
