CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP
MONDAY, APRIL 1, 1996
CALL-IQDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the Workshop to order on Monday, April
1,1996, at 9:30 A.M. in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac, City Hall, 7525 Northwest
88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.

Mayor Abramowitz referred to the fireworks contract, a proposed annexation bill
regarding unincorporated areas in Broward County and Margate's Resolution 8037
pertaining to property rights.
1. Tamarac Sports Complex
City Manager Noe referred to the mid -year budget, eliminating parking and lighting in
the proposed project, curb and median cuts and a traffic study of Nab Hill Road.
Discussion continued on the turn lanes, mitigation with Broward County and the
emergency fire lane.
Rick Cabrera of Carr Smith discussed the safety barrier surrounding the rvW(Fr., rink and

discussion followed on the parking lot, basketball court, Park and Recreation Impact
fees and money for beautification.
2. Fire Engine Replacement
Chief Budzinski said the 1979 Seagrave vehicle has been out of service since January
and was too costly to repair. Discussion continued on Emergency Medical Services
and what the truck was used for.

Chief Budzinski referred to the waiting period for ordering new apparatus, the present
number of fire vehicles in use and the cost to lease with the option to purchase over
five -years. He said the vehicle could be obtained by piggybacking and discussed
apparatus manufacturers and emergency response times.
Discussion continued on the Broward Sheriffs Office and response time for Emergency
Medical Services and Mr. Noe advised the purchase was agendized for the April 10 City
Commission meeting.
3. Miscellaneous
Discussion was held on Mr. Noe's evaluation, the mid -year budget, ad valorem taxes, a
special assessment regarding Emergency Medical Services, Broward County's cost for
emergency services, Attorney Nabors in Tallahassee, hiring the nine Firefighter/
Paramedics, continued negotiations with Medics Ambulance and LifeFleet and people
paying their fair share.
Mr. Noe advised he would be on annual leave and Assistant City Manager McDermott
would be in charge. Discussion followed on $3 million allocated for Parks and
Recreation and Mayor Abramowitz's request for the City Commission Workshop tapes
addressing the $3 million dollars.
With no further discussion, Mayor Abramowitz adjourned the Workshop at 10:45 A.M.
