HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-04-10 - City Commission Workshop Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MONDAY, APRIL 10, 1995 CALL-TOORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the Workshop to order on Monday, April 10, 1995, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida. PRESENT, Mayor Norman Abramowitz Vice Mayor Irving Katz Commissioner Sharon Machek Commissioner Larry Mishkin ABSENT: Commissioner Joseph Schreiber ALSO PRESENT: Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager Dina M. McDermott, Assistant City Manager Mitchell S. Kraft, City Attorney Michael Vonder Meulen, Senior Planner Phyllis Polikoff, Secretary Tape 1 2. Broward Sheriffs Office Agreement for Law Enforcement Services. Mayor Abramowitz announced that the BSO Agreement would be removed from the Wednesday, April 12, 1995 regular meeting agenda. A request by CCL Consultants to rezone land on the east side of NW 70 Avenue, North of McNab Road (north of Johnvince Food Store) from B-1 (Neighborhood Business District) to R-4A (Planned Apartment District). PETITION #25-Z-94 Michael Vonder Meulen, Senior Planner, read the Findings of Fact and said Jeffrey Miller, Director of Community Development, recommended approval. 1 1.1 City Commission Workshop Meeting 4/10/95/PP Page 2 William Mulhearn, Traffic Engineer for Johnvince Foods, discussed the Traffic Impact Study and said residential generated less traffic than commercial. Discussion followed pertaining to this petition. Art Winslow, resident, said he was concerned regarding stacked vehicles on Northwest 70 Avenue and McNab Road. 2. Broward Sheriff's Office Agreement for Law Enforcement Services. Tapes 2 and 3 Discussion followed on the lease, gas pumps, shift flexibility, staffing structure and the Selective Enforcement Team. Discussion continued regarding BSO's budget/contract costs, incident reports, district maps, Tamarac's Police Pension members and a youth counsellor. Also discussed was performance standards, enforcement of Codes and Ordinances, paid violations for crossing guards and the municipal parking lot. 3. Blasting on Land Section 7 Tape 4 Discussion followed pertaining to the Broward County's Blasting Ordinance, water retention, storm -water management, wetlands, landfill and the Department of Natural Resourses Protection (DNRP). Discussion will be held on the following subjects: 9 :30-9:45 a.m. 1.
