HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-04-20 - City Commission Workshop Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MONDAY, APRIL 20, 1998 CALL TO ORDER: Vice Mayor Mishkin called the workshop to order on Monday, April 20, 1998, at 10:00 a.m., in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida. PRESENT: Vice Mayor Larry Mishkin, Commissioner John E. McKaye and Commissioner Karen L. Roberts ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Mayor Joseph Schreiber and Commissioner Marc L. Sultanof ALSO PRESENT: Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager; Mitchell S. APRIL 22, 1998 COMMISSION AGENDA: Vice Mayor Mishkin suggested certain items be tabled from the April 22, 1998 Agenda. After discussion, consensus was that Items 8j, 9, 10, 11 and 12 be tabled along with the presentations on the mid- year Budget and the Comprehensive Plan. The advertised public hearing on the Comprehensive Plan Item 12 will be opened and then continued to a date certain. Commissioner Roberts asked for clarification of Item 8e, regarding Temp. Reso. #8175 accepting State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs, Grant of $9,000 and authorizing a matching Grant of $9,000; executing an agreement with the Florida Department of Community Affairs, Division of Emergency Management Grant Funds; approving an interfund transfer from General Fund to Grants Fund of $9,000; amending the Annual Grants Fund budget in the amount of $18,000, and Item 8i regarding Temp. Reso. #8206 supporting HB 3551 upgrading the crime of discharging a firearm in any public place, on or over the right-of-way of a paved public road, highway, or street, or over occupied premises from a first degree misdemeanor to a third degree felony and providing for penalties and enhanced penalties for habitual offenders. Mr. Hemstreet made presentations on both items. City Commission Workshop April 20, 1998 Page 2 City Manager Noe reminded everyone of the retirement dinner to take place on April 28, 1998. He said Dr. Mathis is scheduled to meet with the Commission on April 27, 1998 at 8:30 a.m. The Commissioners rescheduled the meeting to 1:00 p.m. Mr. Noe reported that the Hiatus Road opening is postponed, he has appointed Public Information Officer Jay Moore who will begin April 27, 1998, Robyn Thalenfeld has been promoted to Secretary and an executive session is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on May 4, 1998.
