CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP
MONDAY, APRIL 24, 1995
CALL TO ORDER. Mayor Abramowitz called the Workshop to order on Monday, April
24, 1995, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest
88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.

Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager

1. Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) Agreement for Law Enforcement Services.
City Manager Noe said there were no further negotiations since April 10 and discussion
followed on a Youth Counsellor, amount of people on shifts, number of sworn
personnel and responsibility for the gas tanks.

2. Emergency Medical Service Options.
Mr. Noe showed slides of the Options and discussion followed on funding from Broward
County, additional personnel for the Fire Department and his recommendation of
Option 2.A.
Mayor Abramowitz requested a recess at 11:40 a.m. and the Workshop reconvened at
11:50 with everyone in attendance.

Discussion was held pertaining to Sam Butters, Hiatus Road and the Comprehensive
Land Plan and Jeffrey Miller, Director of Community Development referenced
Development Regional Impact (DRI) with regard to zoning and Broward County's
Blasting Ordinance.

Discussion continued on Geosonics and educating the public.

Mayor Abramowitz requested a recess at 12:50 P.M. and the Workshop reconvened at
1:05 P.M. He suggested that Chief Joe Gerwins be invited to a Workshop and Comm.
Mishkin said he disagreed.
Discussion continued on BSO personnel, Staffing and coverage in unincorporated
areas.

There was further discussion on the gas tanks and transferred BSO officers.
4. Mid -Year Budget Adjustments.
Mr. Noe recommended hiring temporaries for the Building Department, one permanent
full-time secretary for Community Development, an outside Consultant to revise the
Sign Ordinance, upgrading three Fire Department personnel to Lieutenant and funds to
renovate the BSO building and City Hall.

Discussion was held with regard to electronic fireworks on July 4, a covered walkway
fromTamarac Elementary School to the Multi -Purpose Center, upgrading the data
network to share computer information and privatization services.
Mr. Noe also recommended replacing three vehicles and constructing a roller -hockey
court on Tract 27. There was further discussion on an outside Consultant to review the
Charter, Carla Coleman's Report and holding Special Elections.

City Attorney Kraft noted the Charter Board's concerns about an outside Consultant
and reviewing the Charter.
With no further discussion, Mayor Abramowitz ADJOURNED the MEETING at 2:50
P. M.

There will be a Workshop Meeting of the City Commission on Monday, April 24, 1995,
at 9:30 a.m., Conference Room #1 at Tamarac City Hall, 7525 NW 88 Avenue,
Tamarac, Florida.
Discussion will be held on the following subjects:

3. Land Section 7 Development Issues
All meetings are open to the public.
In the event this agenda must be revised, such revised copies will be available to the
public at the City Commission meeting.
