CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP
MONDAY, JUNE 5, 1995
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the Workshop to order on Monday, June
5, 1995, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest
88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.

Mayor Abramowitz said the City Commission was scheduling a special meeting on
Tuesday, June 13, 1995 at 5:00 P.M. in Commission Chambers, to inform the residents
about the proposed blasting on Land Section 7. He also announced that the Florida
Department of Elder Affairs would hold a Managed Care for Elder Floridians Forum in
Commission Chambers on Wednesday, July 19, 1995 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
1. Tract 27 - Update
Ed Doyle, Parks and Recreation Operations Manager, reviewed the work in progress or
already completed at Tract 27 and referenced the recycled tire base, basketball court
lighting and football and soccer fields.
Gordon Sparks, City Engineer, advised that the asphalt driveway needed to be repaved
and releveled because of the construction at a cost of $20,219. There was discussion
and the Commissioners indicated their approval to proceed.

3. National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
Raj Verma, Public Works Director, reviewed his June 1, 1995 memo pertaining to an
Interlocal Agreement with Broward County. Mayor Abramowitz recommended the
matter be brought before the Broward League of Cities because it concerned all cities
in Broward County.
2. Referendum - September - City Charter
There was discussion pertaining to items on the September, 1995 ballot and the
Commissioners suggested an appointed Charter Board, Commission compensation
and expenses and Commission term limits. There was also discussion concerning
Section 4.05(b) relating to forfeiture of office if a member was absent for more than 75
days.
City Attorney Kraft apprised the Commissioners of a communication from Liebowitz and
Associates with regard to a lawsuit involving Continental Cablevision. A consensus by
the Commissioners was to limit expenditures to $500. in order for Attorney Liebowitz to
file a Motion to protect Tamarac's collection of franchise fees.
With no further discussion, Mayor Abramowitz ADJOURNED the MEETING at 12:45
P.M.
