HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-06-09 - City Commission Workshop Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MONDAY, JUNE 9, 1997 CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Schreiber called the workshop to order on Monday, June 9, 1997, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida. PRESENT: Mayor Joe Schreiber Vice Mayor Larry Mishkin Commissioner John E. McKaye Commissioner Karen L. Roberts Commissioner Marc L. Sultanof ALSO PRESET: Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager Mitchell S. Kraft, City Attorney Tim Hemstreet, Assistant to the City Manager Patricia Marcurio, CMC, Assistant City Clerk Maria Swanson, Personnel Director John Ralston, Management and Budget Officer Phyllis PolikofF, Office Specialist Tape 1 1. 6/9/97 Commission Agenda Items Mayor Schreiber commented on Consent Agenda Item 2.e. regarding the purchase of three submersible pumps and said Item 5 concerning the Fountains would be tabled. Discussion followed. 2. Quarterly Report John Ralston made a presentation and discussion followed. Tape 2 3. Other Strategic Planning Items Maria Swanson made a presentation. City Commission Workshop June 9, 1997 Page 2 Discussion followed on a Police Department feasibility study, sign and playground at Caporella Park, emergency information plan for homeowner associations and welcome signs at entrances to Tamarac. Tape 3 There was further discussion concerning an additional Post Office, Tamarac Athletic Federation, a new library, televising City Commission meetings, an addition to Tamarac Elementary School, more community involvement at City Commission meetings and maintenance of sidewalks. Tape 4 4. Boards/Committees - residency, etc. There was discussion to amend the Code regarding residency requirements and a Special meeting was scheduled on Monday, June 23 concerning vacancies on the Code Enforcement Board, Board of Adjustment and Privatization Committee.
