CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP
MONDAY, JULY 14, 1997
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Schreiber called the Workshop to order on Monday, July
14, 1997, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest
88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.

Municipal financing alternatives
Stanley Hawthorne and Ivan Perrone made presentations.
Mayor Schreiber called for a recess at 10:30 a.m. and the workshop reconvened at
10:40 a.m. with everyone present.
Mayor Schreiber called for a recess at 12:10 p.m. and the workshop reconvened at
12:22 p.m. with everyone in attendance.
2. Special Retirement Option
Stanley Hawthorne made a presentation and a consensus of the Commissioners was to
focus on medical insurance benefits.

Mr. Hawthorne continued his presentation and referred to a survey. Tim Hemstreet
said a summary regarding the survey would be provided to the Commissioners.
Mayor Schreiber called for a recess for lunch at 12:58 p.m. and the workshop
reconvened at 1:03 p.m. with everyone present.
3. Closing of the Municipal Parking Lot
Comm. McKaye recommended closing the parking lot due to contamination. Raj
Verma concurred and made a presentation. There was a consensus to close the
parking lot.
City Manager Noe recommended scheduling an Executive Session on July 28 at 9:00
a.m. for the purpose of Fire negotiations. He advised that Wackenhut Security had
been canceled at Public Works and the Utilities buildings.
Mayor Schreiber commented on the City of Lauderhill's request to acquire Northwest
64th Avenue and custodial services at the multi -purpose center and discussion followed
on these items.
City Attorney Kraft discussed Charter amendment revisions and V/M Mishkin suggested
agendizing this for the July 21 workshop.
Mayor Schreiber commented on the telecommunication tower behind City Hall and
discussion followed.

V/M Mishkin requested the status of a lobbyist and the Personnel Manual. City
Manager Noe advised a proposal was expected from lobbyist Mitch Caesar and Maria
Swanson, Personnel Director, was working on the Personnel Manual. Discussion
followed and Mayor Schreiber suggested agendizing Ms. Swanson's report regarding
the Personnel Manual on the July 21 workshop.

With no further discussion, Mayor Schreiber adjourned the workshop at 1:47 p.m.
