HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-09-18 - City Commission Workshop Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1998 (revised 11/16/98) CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Schreiber called the workshop to order on Friday, September 18, 1998, at 9:30 a.m., in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida. PRESENT: Mayor Joseph Schreiber Vice Mayor Larry Mishkin Commissioner John E. McKaye Commissioner Karen L. Roberts Commissioner Marc L. Sultanof ALSO PRESENT: -Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager Mitchell S. Kraft, City Attorney Carol Gold, City Clerk Tape 1 1. Mayor Schreiber questioned Items 7c, Temporary Resolution #8353, approving the Medical Director contract, 7i, Temporary Resolution #8284, regarding the relocation of the building department, 71, Temporary Resolution #8306, authorizing the appropriate City officials to execute an agreement with AT&T Wireless Service of Florida, Inc. for the installation of a Telecommunications antenna and associated equipment, and 7m, Temporary Resolution #8393,authorizing a two percent (2%) adjustment to the minimum and a four percent (4%) adjustment to the maximum of the pay ranges in the bargaining unit pay plan, of the September 23, 1998 regular Commission meeting agenda, and City Manager Noe responded. Vice Mayor Mishkin questioned item 7k, Temporary Resolution #8287, authorizing the appropriate City Officials to accept a Bill of Sale Absolute from McNab Joint Venture for the Water Distribution and Sewage Collection Improvements installed for the McNab Marketplace (Winn Dixie) Project, of the September 23, 1998 regular Commission meeting agenda, and City Manager Noe responded. 2. Chief Michael Goldstein discussed the BSO Budget for FY99, which proposed a 4.40/6 increase, and introduced Deputy Kathy Lennon, Youth and Truancy Initiatives Coordinator. Vice Mayor Mishkin questioned placing a satellite City Hall in Sunshine Plaza, and whether there was interest from BSO to provide financial assistance for this project. 3. Mitch Ceasar, Lobbyist, discussed accomplishments and possible future projects. Vice Mayor Mishkin commented on past projects. 4. City Manager Noe discussed the Meals on Wheels Program and the Golden Corral luncheon. Commissioner Sultanof mentioned the Council of Mayors meeting being held on a holiday. Mayor Schreiber F89wested distributed information from the privatization committee regarding privatizing the police department. (*The City Clerk replaced the word "distributed" for the word "requested" in the foregoing sentence on 11/16/98 after verifying the language on the audio tape.) Vice Mayor Mishkin moved to recess the workshop meeting until after the regular Commission meeting of September 23, 1998.
