HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-09-29 - City Commission Workshop Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP SEPTEMBER 29, 1997 CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Schreiber called the workshop to order on Monday, September 29, 1997, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida. PRESENT: Mayor Joe Schreiber Vice Mayor Larry Mishkin Commissioner John E. McKaye Commissioner Karen L. Roberts Commissioner Marc L. Sultanof ALSO PRESENT: Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager Mitchell S. Kraft, City Attorney Tim Hemstreet, Assistant to the City Manager Jeffrey L. User Fees Stanley Hawthorne made an overall observation of the DMG study. Jeffrey Miller made a presentation on Code Enforcement and Paul Gioia, made a presentation regarding increasing permit fees. Kathleen Margoles made a presentation, referred to the Fitness Room and suggested charging a fee for non-residents and discussion followed. Jim Budzinski made a presentation with regards to Fire Rescue and discussion followed. City Commission Workshop September 29, 1997 Page 2 Tape 2 Discussion followed regarding Park and Recreation activities and facilities. Mayor Schreiber called for a recess at 10:40 a.m. and the workshop reconvened at 10:45 a.m. with everyone in attendance. Discussion continued and Kathleen Margoles made a presentation with regards to Social Services and recommended a charge for transportation. Discussion continued on a grant to obtain funds for transportation. Tape 3 Discussion was held on user fees to offset the FY 98 budget. 2. Water & Sewer Rates Mike Woika made a presentation and recommended the rates not be increased. Discussion followed and the Commissioners concurred. V/M Mishkin read a proclamation pertaining to Comm. McKaye and Comm. Sultanof recommended preparing a proclamation pertaining to Columbus Day and the Italian American community for the October 8 City Commission meeting.
