CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1996
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the Workshop Meeting to order on
Monday, September 30, 1996, at 10.20 a.m. in Conference Room #1, Tamarac City
Hall, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.
PRESENT:
Mayor Norman Abramowitz
Vice Mayor Larry Mishkin
Commissioner Bruce Hoffman
Commissioner John E. McKaye
Commissioner Joseph Schreiber
ALSO PRESENT:
Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager
Mitchell S. Kraft, City Attorney
Stanley Hawthorne, Finance Director
Maria Swanson, Personnel Director
Karen Jackson, Office Specialist

Mayor Abramowitz stated that backup regarding the proposed Veterans monument
would be distributed shortly.
1. 401(a)
City Manager Noe reviewed the budget procedures briefly and various changes which
have occurred. He presented the 401(a) proposal as being important for the future
success of the City providing for the opportunity to hire state of the art people. He said
this would be in the best interest of the City, its employees and would be of little or no
cost to the City, possibly a savings.
Mr. Hawthorne presented the 401(a) as a part of the benefits package.

Discussion was held regarding the current pension plan and the costs and savings
involved with the proposed plan.

2. Benefits Proposal
Discussion was held on the City Manager's future overall plan for the City and its
employees.
Mayor Abramowitz requested another workshop be held on Friday, October 4, 1996 at
9:00 a.m., to furthur discuss these two items.
With no further business, Mayor Abramowitz adjourned the meeting at 11:40 a.m.
