CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP
MONDAY, OCTOBER 30, 1995
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the Workshop to order on Monday, October
30, 1995, at 9:00 a.m. in Conference Room #1, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac,
Florida.

2. Notification to Commission to prepare for Committee ointmen
Mayor Abramowitz said he did not know when Vice Mayor Katz would return and
recommended a Special Meeting be scheduled immediately after the November 6
Workshop.
City Manager Noe stated allegations concerning the Tamarac Athletic Federation were
heard on Friday, October 27, and letters were mailed to the Commissioners. Discussion
followed and, Comm. Schreiber suggested that the Parks and Recreation Board look into the
matter and Mayor Abramowitz suggested that Mr. Noe investigate.
John Baker, Vice President of Tamarac Athletic Federation, was present and advised that
coaches were disciplined and financial records could be audited. He referenced a chain -of -
command to resolve problems and invited everyone to attend a Tamarac Athletic

Federation meeting.

Discussion followed on fund raising and Mayor Abramowitz discussed the meeting on
Friday, October 27, and allegations made by Mr. and Mrs. Bibber.
Mayor Abramowitz Requested a Recess at 10:12 a.m. and the Workshop Reconvened at
10:16 a.m. with everyone except Comm. Machek present.
Comm. Machek returned at 10:20 a.m.
3. ENS Overview: Five (6) Cities Assessment
City Manager Noe advised he was still negotiating with the four proposers and would
report back with his recommendations. He said the City Managers of Coral Springs,
Parkland, North Lauderdale and Coconut Creek were contacted and Mayor Abramowitz
said the Mayors of the same Cities were also contacted.

Discussion followed on Tamarac's Fire Department, First Responder, non -dedicated
ambulances, one and two-tier systems, State Grant, Ad Valorem taxes and fair share.
There was also discussion regarding Broward County, Municipal Service Benefits Units,
an Interlocal Agreement and Class 8 License.
4. Northwest 671th Street/Sam Butters
City Manager Noe referenced a letter regarding mitigation done by Sam Butters on the
right-of-way on Northwest 67 Street with the cost paid by the City. He recommended
scheduling an Executive Session with Attorney Peter Hurtgen.
With no other business, Mayor Abramowitz ADJOURNED the WORKSHOP at 10:48 a.m.
