HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-11-05 - City Commission Workshop Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1997 CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Schreiber called the workshop to order on Wednesday, November 5, 1997, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 of Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida. Mayor Joseph Schreiber Vice Mayor Larry Mishkin Commissioner John E. McKaye Commissioner Karen L. Roberts Commissioner Marc L. Sultanof ALSO PRESENT: Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager Mitchell S. Mayor Schreiber called a recess at 10:20 a.m. and the workshop reconvened at 10:30 a.m. with everyone present. Tapes 3 and 4 u City Commission Workshop November 5, 1997 Page 2 4. Median Improvements - Lakes of Carriage Hills/Mayor Schreiber Mayor Schreiber recommended the median improvements and Raj Verma made a presentation. Discussion followed and Mayor Schreiber requested a consensus to proceed with the median improvements. A majority of the Commissioners agreed and discussion continued. 5. November 26th and December 24th regular City Commission meetings There was discussion concerning the December 24th regular meeting and City Manager Noe recommended canceling this meeting. Tim Hemstreet advised that December 24th was a City Holiday. The Commissioners agreed to cancel the December 24th regular City Commission meeting. Discussion continued regarding the November 26th regular meeting and City Manager Noe, said there was no conflict with any City holiday and the Commissioners agreed. 2. Re-evaluation of board and committee appointments (Veterans Affairs Committee)/ Vice Mayor Mishkin. City Manager Noe suggested deferring Item 2 to the November loth workshop and the Commissioners agreed. 3. Finance Reorganization/Vice Mayor Mishkin City Manager Noe recommended deferring Item 3 to the November 1 oth workshop and the Commissioners agreed. 6. Items tabled on 10/22/97: User fees for the Tamarac Social Services Program; User fees for the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department programs and facilities City Manager Noe suggested deferring this Item the November loth workshop and the Commissioners agreed. City Manager Noe advised that the November 10th workshop would be scheduled at 10:30 a.m. and the November 18th workshop would be scheduled at 1:30 p.m. With no further discussion, Mayor Schreiber adjourned the workshop at 11:55 a.m. Carol A. Sultanof commented on expected funds regarding the Library and requested an expression of interest to be appointed liaison to the Veterans Affairs Committee. Mayor Schreiber, V/M Mishkin and Comm.
