NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
CITY COUNCIL OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
There will be a Special Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday,
March 15, 1988, at 10:00 A.M. in the Council Chambers of City
Hall, 5811 Nw 88 Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.
The Council will take action on the following items:
1. MOTI .j4952 declaring the results
of the voting on the Capital Expenditure proposing the
construction of a new City of Tamarac Multi -Purpose
Recreational Center in an amount not to exceed One
Million Two Hundred Thousand ($1,200,000.00) Dollars.

FINAL ACTION RESOLUTION NO. R-88-78 PASSED.
APPROVED.
The City Council may consider and act upon such other business
as may come before it.
Pursuant to Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes
If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the city
Council with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or
hearing, he will need a record of the proceedings and for such
pt!rpose, he may need to ensure that a verbatim record includes
the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Hart called this Special meeting to Order on
Tuesday, March 15, 1988, at 10:05 A.M. in the Council Chambers.
MEDITATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Mayor Hart called for the Pledge
of Allegiance followed by a Moment of Silent Meditation.

of the Voting on the Capital Expenditure proposing the

4. PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATES OF ELECTION by the City Clerk.l
SYNOPSIS OF ACTION:
PRESENTATION was made by the City Clerk.
Carol E. Barbuto, City Clerk, read one of the
certificates into the record.
Mrs. Barbuto presented the Certificates of Election to
the following:
Isaac "Zeke" Feldman, Charter Board - District 2
Ron Catronio, Charter Board - District 4
Herman "Larry" Bender - Council - District 4
Jack Stelzer - Council - District 2
Norman Abramowitz - Mayor
5. OATH OF OFFICE administered to the new City Council and Charter
Board —members by the City Manager.
SYNOPSIS OF ACTION:
The City Manager administered the oath
of office to the new City Council and
Charter Board members.
City Manager administered the oath of office to the
following:
Ron Catronio, Charter Board - District 4
Isaac "Zeke" Feldman - Charter Board - District 2
Herman "Larry" Bender - Council - District 4
Jack Stelzer - Council - District 2
Norman Abramowitz - Mayor
Mayor Hart said much has been accomplished in the two
years he served as the Mayor of Tamarac. He said he has
learned much about the way Municipal Governments operate
and the pleasures and anguishes of the citizens'
complaints and displeasures. He said if more citizens
would donate two years of their time to the City, it
would be a better place in which to live. He said he was
confident that the next two years would bring further
accomplishments to the City because Norman Abramowitz
would be a good leader. He wished Mr. Abramowitz well
for a successful administration.
At this time, Councilman Bender and Mayor Abramowitz took
their seats on the dais.
6. APPOINTMENT OF VICE MAYOR by City Council for a one-year term.
SYNOPSIS OF ACTION:
Jack Stelzer was appointed Vice Mayor
for a one year term.
Mayor Abramowitz opened the floor for nominations for the
Vice Mayor position.
C/M Rohr nominated Jack Stelzer to serve as Vice Mayor
for a one year term, SECONDED by C/M Hoffman.

City Manager Kelly said this matter had to be approved so
checks could be signed and issued by the City.
C/M Hoffman MOVED to APPROVE this Item, SECONDED by C/M Rohr.
VOTE:
ALL VOTED AYE
Mayor Abramowitz said he was overwhelmed by the amount of
people who attended this meeting to wish the
newly -elected officials to the City. He said he sits in
the position of Mayor with deep appreciation to his
family, friends, voters and hard working staff whose
efforts made this event possible. He said he has been
surrounded by hard working, diligent, loyal people which
was the greatest.
Mayor Abramowitz said he entered the campaign with the
determination to serve the City with all of the ability
at his command. He said having been given the
opportunity, he assures that nothing will detour him from
making Tamarac an outstanding City to live, prosper and
raise families in. He said the vote of confidence given
to him would provide the incentive and the vigor to
achieve the goals that have been set. He thanked
everyone for their confidence and in electing him as the
Mayor of the City of Tamarac.
