1. Discussion and Possible Action ReEarding Payment of Professional
Services Fees During the Council's August Recess.
SYNOPSIS OF ACTION: Authorized the
Mayor and Acting City Manager to pay for
services covered under the Consent Agenda
portion of Council meetings during August
while Council is in recess.
Acting City Manager Steve Wood advised that in previous years, the Mayor
and the City Manager have been authorized to pay those items normally appear-
ing on the Consent Agenda during the month of August. He explained that this
is a means of paying those fees for professional services and added that
these are July bills.
C/M Munitz asked if this should be more specific to indicate which services
and the Mayor stated that it is for any professional services. C/M Munitz
asked the Mayor if he was comfortable with such a general statement and the
Mayor assured Council that between himself and the Acting City Manager, the
fees would not be paid if there were a question.
C/M Munitz MOVED to authorize the Mayor and the Acting City Manager to pay
for such services during the month of August. Vice Mayor Stein. SECONDED.

2. Authorization for Purchase of Cushman Turf Truckster for Parks &
Recreation Department.
SYNOPSIS OF ACTION: APPROVED the
purchase of a demonstrator model of
the Cushman Turf Truckster for the
Parks & Recreation Department for
$9,407.00, with 'funds to come from
the Parks & Recreation Fund, not the
General Fund.
Mr. Wood advised that Bob Hurley was to be here to explain the need for
the equipment. Mr. Wood stated that there is an opportunity to save $1,693.00
by purchasing the demonstrator model and it will improve the efficiency of
the operation. C/M Munitz asked what they had been using before and Mr.
Wood advised that they had been using pick-up trucks and doing the work
manually. Mayor Kravitz advised that Parks & Recreation had been renting
that equipment, they feel that it is serving their purpose, and they can
buy the demonstrator at a cheaper price. The Mayor advised that the Recrea-
tion Director recommended it and so did Mr. Hurley, who has been operating
the equipment.
C/M Munitz asked if this money would be taken from the Parks & Recreation
Fund, not the General Fund. Mayor Kravitz confirmed that it would. C/M
Munitz MOVED to purchase the equipment as outlined by the Parks & Recreation
Director at the sum of $9,407.00, indicating that this is to come from the
Parks & Recreation Fund and not the General Fund. Vice Mayor Stein SECONDED.
(See Attachment 1).
