9/8/89 - JOINT/SPECIAL
Melanie Reynolds, Resident, said that the entire
Redistricting Committee was usually present to submit
their Report to the City Council and Charter Board as
opposed to the Chairperson only.
Mrs. Reynolds said under the Charter, the Redistricting
Committee made the Final Report; however, Arthur 'Birken
previous City Attorney, wrote, "The basic question is
whether by creating the Redistricting Committee, the
Charter created a new Legislative Body with a power to
mandate District boundaries".
Mrs. Reynolds said if an Ordinance was not passed by the
City Council and the Charter Board, they would be giving
the Redistricting Committee legislative powers.
Mayor Abramowitz asked the City Attorney to investigate
this matter and report back to the City Council if there
were any complications.
Mayor Abramowitz asked Diane Glasser to thank the
Redistricting Committee members for their assistance in
this matter.
With no further business, Mayor Abramowitz ADJOURNED -this
