AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO
SECTION 71 OF ARTICLE XI
OF THE CITY 'CHARTER OF THE 1ARAC
RELATING TO ELECTION BOARD
HE CITY OF TAMARAC AND
APPROVAL BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION
124 OF THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC.
WHEREAS Section 124 of the City Charter of the City
of Tamarac authorizes amendments to the City Charter of
the City of Tamarac upon submission by the Charter Board
and approved by the City Councils and
WHEREAS, both of such bodies have approved the amend -
meet which is the subject matter -of this Ordinance and deem
the same to be desirable.

SECTION 1: That the amendment to Article XI

City Charter of the City of Tamarac, Florida. #

CHARTER BOARD PROPOSED AMENDMENT #16.
ARTICLE XI, SECTION 71 of the City Charter of the City
of Tamarac is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 71. ELECTION BOARD
The general, primary and special elections of the City of
Tamarac shall be conducted and held under the supervision and
control of an Election Board. The Election Board shall con-
sist of five (5) members who are qualified electors of the City
of Tamarac, elected for terms of four'(4) years. At the first
general election of Councilmen, the three (3) candidates for
the Election Board receiving the highest number of votes shall
be elected for.a term of four (4) years, the two candidates for
the Election Board receiving the next highest number of votes .
shall be elected for a term of two (2) years. Thereafter, all
.Election Board members shall be elected for a term of four (4)
years or until their successors are elected and _qualified.
Terms of Election Board members shall begin on the Tuesday
following their election. Vacancies on the Election Board co

until the next general election. The Election Board shall have.
the powers and duties as provided for under the laws and the
Constitution of the State of Florida. The Election Board shall
file with the City Manager and the City Council a report containing
a plan for adjustment of the Council district boundaries by the
first day of September, 1972, and thereafter every two (2) years.
Each District shall contain as nearly as possible the same number
of qualified electors. The report shall include a map and
description of the Districts recommended and shall be drafted as
an ordinance. Once filed with the City Manager, the report shall
take effect within ten (10) days of the date of filing.
The new Council Districts and boundaries shall supersede
previous Council Districts and boundaries for all the purposes

of the general, special or primary elections. Any change in
District territorial boundarie's shall not prohibit any Council-
man from completing his term of office."
