ORDINANCE
AN ORIDNANCE AMENDING SECTION 24-20 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, BY ADDING TO
SUBSECTION (C) NEW PARAGRAPHS (1) AND (2);
SETTING FORTH DESIGN STANDARDS FOR BULKHEADS
AND SEAWALLS; SETTING FORTH ADDITIONAL REQUIRE-
MENTS FOR BULKHEADS AND SEAWALLS TO BE MET PRIOR
TO THE ISSUANCE OF AN IMPROVEMEN'T PERMIT; REPEALING
ALL LAWS IN CONFLICT: PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Tamarac,
reviewed the City of Tamarac's development regulations, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Tamarac
has recommended to the City Council of the City of Tamarac that
Article III, Drainage, Division 2, Canals, Lakes, Ditches and Swales,
Section 24-20 Design Standards --Canals and Lakes be amended to include
specific design criteria for seawalls and bulkheads.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 24-20 Design Standards --Canals
and Lakes is hereby amended by adding to Subsection (c) Bulkheads
and Seawalls the following:
(c) (1) Bulkheads - Design Standards
Bulkheads or seawalls shall be reinforced concrete
panels constructed of 4,000 PSI concrete, reinforced with A-36
structural grade s-tee 1 and designed in accordance to the following
illustrations.

(c) (2) Bulkhead -_.Requirements
The face of the bulkhead shall coincide with the developments
property line, if applicable. A licensed surveyor shall submit the
proposed layout of the bulkhead on either a recorded plat or copy of the
approved engineering plans accompanied with 6 sets of Certified Plans
and Specifications, showing complete details of the seawall, pertinent
topographical and soils information, structural calculations and
complete unit cost breakdown. The City assumes no liability for the
design or construction of bulkheads and their adequacy is and remains
the responsiblity of the design professional who certifies the plans,
specifications and structural calculations. The City Engineer shall
inform the developer of the appropriate fees and bonds in accordance
with this chapter, and the City *shall receive same prior to the
issuance of an improvement permit.
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3: Should any section or provision of this ordinance
or any portion thereof, or any paragraph, sentence or word be declared
by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall
not affect the validity of the remainder hereof other than the part
declared to be invalid.
SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its final passage.
