CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. '� (o
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 76-33,
SUPPLEMENTING CHARTER SECTION 6.06, CANDIDATES;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 76-33 establishes filing dates for
candidates in City elections pursuant to Chapter 75-350, Laws of
Florida, and
WHEREAS, Chapter 75-350 has been amended by Chapter 76-336
by changing the filing dates for candidates in Municipal elections in
Broward County, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to recommendation of the City Attorney,
the City Council deems it necessary and desirable to amend Ordinance
No. 76-33 to conform to State Law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 2, subsection 2 paragraph 3 of Ordinance
No. 76-33 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"The signatures shall be executed in ink or indelible
pencil. Each signer shall be a resident, registered
elector and shall indicate next to his signature the
date of his signing and the place of his residence,
giving the street and number or other description
sufficient to identify it. The signed petitions shall
be filed with the City Clerk no earlier than noon on
the second (2nd) day in January no later than noon
on the sixteenth (16th) day in January of the calendar
year in which the election is to be held. As regards
a special election under the provisions of Section
4.05 (C) and (D) the signed petitions shall be filed
no earlier than noon on the day six weeks prior to,
nor later than noon on the day four weeks prior to the
date set for the special elections. The City Clerk
shall give a receipt therefor."
SECTION 2: That Section 2, subsection 3 of Ordinance No. 76-33
is hereby amended to read as follows:
11(3) Acceptance, Qualifying Fee. No nominating petition
shall be accepted until the candidate has paid to the
City Clerk a qualifying fee of Twenty-five ($25.00)
dollars for Mayor and ten ($10.00) dollars for Council -
member, plus a fee of 10� per signature on the nominating
petition to defray the cost of certification of same
by the County Supervisor of Elections. The nominating
petition shall be accompanied by a signed statement of
acceptance of the nomination to be supplied by the City
Clerk, which acceptance shall state that if elected,
that person will qualify and serve in such office
during the term for which he is elected. The City Clerk
shall deliver to such candidate a dated, written receipt
for said acceptance statement and qualifying fee.

Payment of said fee and filing of acceptance must be done
and completed no earlier than noon on the second _(2nd)

SECTION 3: That this Ordinance becomes effective immediately
upon its final adoption.
