CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. I (,o- S
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING DATE FOR DULY
ELECTED MUNICIPAL OFFICERS TO TAKE OFFICE;
REPEALING ANY AND ALL PROVISIONS OF THE
CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC AND
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND DECLARING AN EMER-
GENCY.
WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Florida enacted
Bill. No. 2103, effective June 16, 1975, an act relating to
Broward County; providing for legislative intent; providing
uniform filing dates for municipal elections; providing uniform
election dates for municipal elections; providing for the
elimination of primary elections in municipal races; providing
that the candidate with the highest number of votes shall be
the winner and take office within ten(10) days after election;
providing for terms of office; providing for correspondence of
terms of municipal office to the common dates provided in this
act; providing canvassing of municipal elections by the County
Canvassing Board, providing an effective date,
WHEREAS, Section 5 of said Bill provides that duly
elected municipal officers, shall take office within ten (10)
days after election with the specific day to be decided by
local ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

That the terms of office for those duly elected municipal
officers elected at the March 9, 1976 election, and municipal
officers elected to public office, in subsequent years on the
second Tuesday of March of said calendar year, shall begin at noon
on the day following the election, or when certification from
County officials is received.

All ordinances, parts of ordinances or Charter provi-
sions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.

The Council finds an emergency exists which is of
great public concern affecting the general welfare of the citi-
zens of Tamarac, when the State of Florida Legislature adopted
Bill No. 2103, thereby negating existing Charter provisions and
Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, providing dates for the
taking of office by municipal officers. It is therefore neces-
sary for the Council to provide by ordinance, for a timely and
orderly transition of the affairs and organization of govern-
ment from those officers and offices being vacated at the elec-
tion to be held March 9, 1976, and those officers, elected to
fill the vacated offices of government and declares this Ordi-
nance to be an Emergency Ordinance to become effective imme-
diately upon
