CHANGING A REFERENCE TO THE WORD VARIANCE FROM PLATTING PROCEDURES
4 TO THE WORDS EXCEPTION PERMIT; AMENDING SECTIONS 20-22 PERTAINING
TO REQUIREMENTS FOR DEDICATION OF CANALS AND WATERWAYS ON PLATS;
5 20-34 PERTAINING TO REQUIREMENTS FOR DESIGN OF CUL DE SACS ON
PLATS; 20-35 PERTAINING TO REQUIREMENTS FOR MINIMUM WIDTH OF
�r RIGHTS -OF -WAY ON PLATS, 20-39 PERTAINING TO DESIGN OF CURVILINEAR
STREETS ON PLATS AND 20-40 PERTAINING TO DESIGN OF INTERSECTIONS
ON PLATS, TO MAKE SAME CONSISTENT WITH SUBSEQUENTLY ADOPTED
REGULATIONS CONTAINED WITHIN CHAPTER 24 OF THE TAMARAC CITY CODE
8 ENTITLED SUBDIVISION IMPROVEMENTS; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION;
PROVIDING REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND -PROVIDING AN
9 EFFECTIVE DATE.

11 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
32 SECTION 1: Section 20-3 of the Tamarac City Code is amended by adding
33 the word, numerals and punctuation underscored, and by deleting the words,
14 numerals and punctuation struck through as follows:
15 Sec. 20-3 Conformance with chapter generally; platting prerequisite to
16 issuance of building permit, etc.; approval of water and sewer facilities requiredl
17 exceptions.
No owner, agent or other developer or vendor of real property in the
city shall create a subdivision of land within the definition contained in this
20 chapter without first filing a plat conforming to the requirements of this chapter,
21 unless an vap4apee- exception permit has been granted in accordance with the
22 provisions of this chapter.

25 (a) No building permit or certificate of occupancy shall be issued on any land
26 except that which is platted in accordance with this chapter and recorded by plat in
the recording department of the clerk of the circuit court of the county. Under certain
27 conditions, when the final plat has been accepted by the city council, and when
substantially prepared for recording, the building official may grant a permit to start
28 construction. However, no certificate of occupancy shall be issued until the plat is
29 recorded.
(b) No city water or sewer facilities shall be installed in unrecorded subdivisions
without the approval of the city council.
(c) All subdivisions recorded after April 30, 1916, are specifically excluded from the
provisions of subsection (a) of this section to the extent that a lot or parcel consists of
2 one acre or less of land; provided, that such lot or parcel is to be used for a single
building, that it is served by a paved public road sand that it is served by water and

SECTION 3: Section 20-34 of the Tamarac City Code is amended by

the street intersection to the centerline termination which is also the
centerline of the cul-de-sac.

SECTION 5: Section 20-39 of the Tamarac City Code is amended by
adding the words, numerals and punctuation underscored and by deleting the words,
numerals and punctuation struck through as follows:
Sec. 20-39. Curvilinear street.
(a) Curvilinear streets are recommended for residential minor and
collector streets, in order to discourage excessive vehicular speeds and to
provide attractive vistas.
(b) Whenever a street changes direction, or connecting street lines
deflect from each other by more than ten (10) degrees, there shall be a
horizontal curve.
(c) To ensure adequate sight distance, minimum centerline radii for
horizontal curves shall be as follows:

SECTION 6: Section 20-40 of the Tamarac City Code is amended by adding
the words, numerals and punctuation underscored,and by deleting the words,
numerals and punctuation struck through as follows:
(a) Angle of intersection. Streets shall be laid out to intersect as
nearly as•possible at right angles. No street shall intersect another at an
angle of less than sixty (60) degrees, except at a "Y" intersection of two (2)
minor streets.
(b) Multiple intersections. Multiple intersections involving the
junction of more than two (2) streets shall be prohibited, except where found to
be unavoidable by the Planning Commission.
•(c) "T" intersections of minor and collector streets. "T" intersection:
of minor and collector streets are to be encouraged.
(d) Distance between intersections - intersections with trafficways
other than secondary thoroughfares. As far as possible, intersections with
trafficways other than secondary thoroughfares shall be located not less than
six hundred sixty (660) feet apart, measured from centerline
to centerline.., unless otherwise approved by the City Engineer
SECTION 7: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify this
ordinance.
SECTION 8: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 9: Should any section or provision of this ordinance or any
portion hereof or any paragraph, sentence or word be declared by a Court of
competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the
validity of the remainder hereof as a whole or any part hereof other than the part
declared to be invalid.
SECTION 10: This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
its final passage.
