NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA. SECTION 1: That the following proposed Amendment is to be presented to the Electorate of the City of Tamarac at the March 10, 1987 election and that the proposed Amendment if approved by a majority of the electorate at said election the approved proposed Amendment shall become an Amendment to the City Charter upon certification and acceptance of the election results by the City Council: T DM T: An Amendment to Charter Sub -section 4.06(a) providing that the City Council shall determine the four week period in which it is not to meet as opposed to not r,!eeting in August as currently required. -1- ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF THIS AMENDMENT? L 32 33 34 35 If this proposed Amendment is approved, the words that are F will indicate the deletions and the underscored words will indicate the new language. Section 4.06 Procedures. (a) Meetings. The council shall meet regularly at least twice a month, except during <-Attj> a four (4) consecutive week period to be determined by the City Council no later than April 15 of each year at such times and places as the council may decide. Special meetings may be held on the call of the mayor or of a majority of the members upon no less than twelve (12) hours' notice to each member. In the event of an emergency, the mayor may call for an immediate meeting of the council. (b) Rules and Journal. the council shall determine its own rules and order of business, and shall keep minutes of its proceedings. (c) Voting and Quorum. voting on ordinances and resolutions shall be by roll call and each vote shall be recorded in the journal. A majority of the council will constitute a quorum. An affirmative vote of three (3) members shall be necessary to enact any ordinance or adopt any resolution. SECTION 2: Should any section or provision of this Ordinance or any portion hereof or any paragraph, sentence or word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remainder hereof as a whole or any part hereof other than the part declared to be invalid. SECTION 3: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify the change to Section 4.06 of the City Charter if approved by the electorate. SECTION 4: That the appropriate City officials are authorized to take whatever actions are necessary to ensure that these matters are placed on the March 10, 1987 ballot. -2- OECT1�.: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upoi= J t_:< adoption and passage.
