CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE No. 0-88--zt
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RELATING TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD;
AMENDING ARTICLE II, SECTION 18A-8(c) OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC TO
DELETE THE REQUIREMENT THAT TWO (2) MEMBERS
OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD BE BETWEEN
THE AGES OF 16 AND 19 YEARS OLD; PROVIDING
FOR REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, despite the good faith efforts of the City, it
has been difficult to find members of the community between
the ages of 16 and 19 years old who can serve on the City of
Tamarac Parks and Recreation Board; and
WHEREAS, the City's inability to fill these two posi-
tions on the Parks and Recreation Board has effected the
Boards ability to obtain a quorum; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac wishes
to amend Section 18A-8 of the Code of Ordinances to delete
the requirement that two of the members of the Parks and
Recreation Board be between the ages of 16 and 19 years old;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 166, Florida Statutes, a
public hearing has been held on this proposed amendment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1 : That Article II, Section 18A-8(c) of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac relating to member-
ship and compensation of the City Parks and Recreation Board
is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 18-8. Creation; organization; powers and duties.

(c) Membership; compensation. The members of the board
shall be appointed by the council on an annual basis and
serve at the pleasure of the council without compensation.
The chairman of the board shall be appointed by the city

19-pears--e1c- Two (2) members shall be veterans of the
Armed Forces.
SECTION 2 : All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION 3 Specific authority is hereby granted to
codify this Ordinance.
SECTION 4 If any provision of this Ordinance or the
application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect
without the invalid provision or application, and to this end
the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be sever-
able.
SECTION 5 This Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon adoption and passage.

held at City Hall, 7525 N.W. 88 Avenue, Tamarac, Florida
33321.
Copies of the proposed Ordinances are available for viewing
and purchase at the office of the City Clerk. Interested
parties may appear to be heard with respect to these proposed
Ordinances in accordance with Florida Statute #166.041.
