AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA, PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE
VII, SECTION 7.11 OF THE CITY CHARTER TO
REQUIRE THAT ALL CONTRACTS FOR THE PURCHASE
M OF CAPITAL EQUIPMENT, AND IMPROVEMENT AND
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS OF ANY TYPE, AVAIL-
ABLE FROM MORE THAN ONE (1) SOURCE OR WHICH
CANNOT BE PERFORMED WITH CITY PERSONNEL
WHICH SHALL EXCEED THE SUM OF TEN THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($10,000.00) SHALL BE COMPETITIVELY
BID1 PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATIM PROVIDING
FOR REPEALER, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY1
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Charter Board and the City Council have
agreed that it would be in the best interests of the citizens
of Tamarac that Article VII, Section 7.11 of the City Charter
be amended: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 166 Florida Statutes a
public hearing has been held on this matter,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION is That the following proposed referendum
question amending the City Charter *hall be presented to the
electorate of the City of Tamarac at the September d, 1990
Election and if the following proposed referendum question is
approved by a majority of the electorate at said Election,
the amendment proposed shall became a part of the City
Charter upon certification and acceptance of the election
results:

CITY CONTRACTS IN ]EXCESS OF TEN THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($10400) SHALL BE COMPETITIVELY BID
Section 7.11 of the Tamarac City Charter Is amended to
require city contracts for the purchase of capital equipment,
and for improvement and construction contracts of any type,
available from more than one (1) source or which cannot be
performed with city personnel in excess of ten thousand
dollars ($10,000) shall be competitively bid.

If the proposed Amendment is approved, Article VII, Section
7.11 of the City Charter will read as outlined below.

Sec. 7.11. Requirements for public bidding.
All contracts for the purchase of capital equipment, and
for improvement and construction contracts of any type,
available from more than one (1) source.,. that or which

SECTION 21 Specific authority is hereby granted to
codify this Ordinance.
SECTION 32 All ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.

SECTION 4: If any provision of this Ordinance or the
application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
Invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect
without the invalid provision or application, and to this end
the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be
severable.
SECTION S: This Ordinance shall become effective
Immediately upon adoption ana passage.
