ORDINANCE No. 0-90-- 30
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
AMENDING CHAPTER 10, "LAND DEVELOPMENT
REGULATIONS", ARTICLE V, "IMPROVEMENTS",
DIVISION 3 "UNDERGROUND WIRING" BY ADDING TO
SECTION 10-206 THE REQUIREMENT THAT CABLE
TELEVISION WIRING BE INSTALLED UNDERGROUND
WHEN SERVICING RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS AND
OTHER LAND DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS; PROVIDING
THAT TELEPHONE AND CABLE TELEVISION UTILITY
LINES MAY. BE ATTACHED TO FPL ELECTRICAL
TRANSMISSION FACILITIES WHEN SUCH ARE ALLOWED
BY THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION; PROVIDING
FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR REPEALER;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac finds
that it is in the best interests of the health and safety of
its citizens to regulate the installation and maintenance of
utility lines within the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 10-206 of the City Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 10-206. Required; exceptions.
In new residential subdivisions and other land
development projects, all utility lines, including but
not limited to those required for electrical power
distribution, telephone and telegraph communications,
cable television, street lighting, electrical distri-
bution system, including service lines to individual
properties.necessary to serve the development under
consideration, shall be installed underground.

However, this section shall not apply to wires, con-
ductors or associated apparatus and supporting structures
whose exclusive function is in transmission of electrical
energy between generating stations, substations and
transmission lines of other utility systems. Telephone and
cable television utility lines may be attached to FPL
electrical transmission facilities when such are allowed b
the -provisions of this section. Appurtenances such as
transformer boxes, pedestal --mounted terminal boxes and meter
cabinets may be placed above ground on a level concrete slab
and shall be located in such a manner as to minimize noise
effects upon the surrounding residential properties. All
underground wires shall be buried a minimum of eighteen (18)
inches below the finished ground line.
SECTION 2: Specific authority is hereby granted to
codify this Ordinance.
SECTION 3: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION 4: If any provision of this Ordinance or the
application thereof to any person or circumstance is held
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect
without the invalid provision or application, and to this end
the *provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be
severable.

SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon adoption and passage.
