R-2003- �1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE MARCH 11, 2003 GENERAL ELECTION FOR MAYOR AT -LARGE, AND CITY COMMISSION DISTRICTS 2 and 4; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a General Election was held on March 11, 2003, wherein the electorate of the City of Tamarac elected one candidate for the Office of Mayor, at -large, one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 2 and one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 4; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Canvassing Board has canvassed the results of the machine voting and absentee ballots and has certified such results to the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has reviewed the certification from the Broward County Canvassing Board and has presented their findings to the City Commission for a formal Certification and Declaration of the results; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to declare the results of the March 11, 2003 General Election for Mayor and City Commission Districts 2 and 4. Temp. Reso. #10057 March 12, 2003 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA. SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Mayor, at -large at the General Election held March 11, 2003: Lorna Bryan: 929 Joe Schreiber: 5,403 Joe Schreiber having received the highest number of votes cast is, therefore, declared to have been elected as Mayor, at -large of the City of Tamarac for a term of three (3) years. SECTION 3: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative from District 2 at the General Election held March 11, 2003: Beth Flansbaum-Talabisco: 738 Peter lerardi: 71 Gertrude "Gert" Mishkin: 439 Ron A. Peters: 279 "Stew" Webster: 300 E Temp. Reso. #10057 March 12, 2003 3 Beth Flansbaum-Talabisco having received the highest number of votes cast is, therefore, declared to have been elected as Commission Representative, District 2, of the City of Tamarac for a term of three years. SECTION 4: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative, District 4, of the City of Tamarac for a term of three years. Harry Dressler: 512 William (Bill) George: 111 Karen L. Roberts: 636 Karen L. Roberts having received the highest number of votes cast is, therefore, declared to have been elected as Commission Representative, District 4, of the City of Tamarac for a term of three years. SECTION 5: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. 1 Temp.
