ORDINANCE NO. 0-2007-�
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 10 ENTITLED, "LAND
DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS", ARTICLE V,
"IMPROVEMENTS", DIVISION 2, "ROADS AND
PUBLIC RIGHTS -OF -WAY", SECTION 183,
"MINIMUM DESIGN CRITERIA" OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA TO REVISE THE MINIMUM DESIGN
CRITERIA FOR CUL-DE-SACS; PROVIDING
FOR FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS
EVIDENCING THE INTENT OF THE CITY
COMMISSION TO REVISE THE AFORESAID
DESIGN CRITERIA (CASE NO. 17-Z-06);
PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR. AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac (hereinafter referred to as
the "City"), periodically reviews and evaluates its Comprehensive Land Use Plan (the
"Plan"), as well as the City's Land Development Regulations ("LDRs"), all pursuant to
provisions of Chapter 163, Florida Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is a dynamic, growing and expanding municipality
that presents new development and redevelopment opportunities throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Commission that certain aspects
of the LDR should be updated to reflect design standards for cul-de-sacs that encourage
creative site design which enhance the appearance of the City; and

WHEREAS, the adoption, promulgation and implementation of this Ordinance will
serve to benefit the health, safety and welfare of all of the citizens and residents of the City;
and
WHEREAS, the Interim Director of Community Development recommends approval
of this ordinance amendment; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has deemed it to be in the
best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to amend Chapter 10
entitled, "Land Development Regulations", Article V, "Improvements", Division 2, `Roads
and Public Rights -of -Way", Section 183, "Minimum Design Criteria" of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida to revise the minimum design criteria for cul-de-
sacs; providing for findings and conclusions evidencing the intent of the City Commission
to revise the aforesaid design criteria.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS"clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of the Ordinance
upon adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: Section 10-1830) is hereby amended as follows:

(i) Streets having cul-de-sacs, permanently designed as such, shall not exceed
fifteenhundred (1,500) feet in length, unless it is demonstrated to the satisfaction of
the Community Development Director City Engineer and the Fire Marshall that a
cul-de-sac longer in length satisfies community planning standards, engineering
standards and fire safety standards and is not otherwise detrimental to the public
safety and welfare. Cul-de-sacs shall be provided at the closed end with a circular
turnaround having a paved area of a minimum of ei ht 8Q feet in diameter.
Drainage swales shall be provided within the paved area.
SECTION 3: It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby
ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that Sections of this Ordinance
may be renumbered or relettered and the word "Ordinance" may be changed to "Section",
"Article" or such other word or phrase in order to accomplish such intention.
SECTION 4: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and all Resolutions or
parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions
or applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable.

SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
