HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-06-07 - City Commission Special Training Session Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION SPECIAL TRAINING SESSION -- WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7, 2017 CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Harry Dressler called the Special Training Session of the City Commission to order at 2:36 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Conference Room 105, City Hall, 7525 NW 88th Avenue, Tamarac, FL 33321. ROLL CALL: Mayor Harry Dressler, Vice Mayor Debra Placko, Commissioner Marlon Bolton, Commissioner Michelle J. Gomez and Commissioner Julie Fishman were in attendance. Also in attendance were City Manager Michael C. Cernech, City Clerk Patricia Teufel, Risk/Safety Manager Patty Tomaszewski, Safety Specialist Vince Bernd, Captain Neal Glassman, BSO Detective Ira Marrich, Public Services Director Jack Strain, Financial Services Director Mark Mason, Information Technology Director Levent Sucuoglu, Human Resources Director Maria Swanson and Assistant Human Resources Director Lerenzo Calhoun. Risk/Safety Manager Tomaszewski said the objective of the training session is to make the Commission aware of how to react in an active/aggressor shooter situation. Risk/Safety Manager Tomaszewski introduced BSO Detective Ira Marrich to the Commission. Detective Marrich went over the course objectives and gave a presentation. Detective Marrich, Captain Glassman, Risk/Safety Manager Tomaszewski and Safety Specialist Bernd responded to questions from the Commission throughout the presentation. All were in agreement that there should be some type of training drill conducted. Risk/Safety Manager Tomaszewski said she will look into it.
