NOTICE OF
• EMERGENCY SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
There will be an Emergency Special City Council meetincj on
Wednesday, September 14, 1988 at 1:30 P.M. in Conference 1toom
#1 (Room 103).
MOTION TO ADOPT Temp. Reso. #5167 awarding Bid #88-37 to HIP
Network of Florida in the amount of $101.43 per month for
single coverage and $273.92 per month for family coverage'for
City employee health insurance.
FINAL ACTION: RESOLUTION NO. R-88-249 PAS$lED.
APPROVED.
The City Council may consider and act upon such other b4isi-
ness as may come before it.
All meetings are open to the public.

CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called this Emergency Special
eeting to Order on Wednesday, September 14, 1988, at 1:55 P.M. in

City attorney Doody said the record should reflect th$t
th- meeting was noticed and there was an Agenda.
MOTION TO ADOPT Temp. Reso. #5167 awarding Bid #88-37 to
HIP Network of Florida 'In the amount of $101.43 per month for
single coverage and $273.92 per month for family coverage for
City employee health insurance.
SYNOPSIS OF ACTION:
APPROVED.
RESOLUTION NO. R-88-249 - PASSED
City Attorney Doody read Temp. Reso. #5167 by title.
At this time, C/M Bender ENTERED the meeting.
• Larry Perretti, Personnel Director, said on September 9,
1988,'the City opened bids for Group Health Insurance.
He said there were two bids received, 1) HIP and 2)
AVMed. He said the HIP quote provided for single
coverage at $101.43 per month and dependent coverage at
$273.92 per month. He said the coverage included medical
prescriptions, mental health rider and alcohol and
substance abuse rider.
Mr. Perretti said AvMed quoted $50.00 bi-weekly for
single coverage and $131.48 bi-weekly for dependent
coverage. He said the coverage included medical
prescriptions and health care.
Mr. Perretti said there was a third bid submitted;
however, it was not read because it was submitted
unsealed.
City Attorney Doody said the bid specification stated
that the bids had to be submitted to the City Clerk's
Office sealed.
Mr. Perretti said in reviewing the bids and presenting
them to the three bargaining Units presently in
negotiations, it was recommended that the City accept the

bid submitted by HIP and add it to the present
Self -Insured plan carried by Cigna.
V/M Stelzer said the record should reflect that the
employees would have the opportunity to select what type
of plan they wanted.
Mr. Perretti said the City would be presenting the
Self -Insured Program, HMO Program and the HIP/HMO Program
to the employees for their selections of coverage.

With no further business, Mayor Abramowitz ADJOURNED this
meeting at 2:10 P.M.
