CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2018 I Lt7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF
SUNRISE'S COMPLETE STREETS AND OTHER
LOCALIZED INITIATIVES PROGRAM APPLICATION TO ADD
BIKE LANES, SIDEWALKS, CURBS AND GUTTERS ALONG
NW 94T" AVENUE WITHIN THE CITY OF SUNRISE'S RIGHT
OF WAY AND THE CITY OF TAMARAC RIGHT OF WAY,
BETWEEN COMMERCIAL BOULEVARD AND NW 57T"
STREET; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) provides funds
to eligible local governments for transportation related projects, such as traffic calming and
bike facilities, through their Complete Streets and Other Localized Initiatives Program
(CSLIP), and
WHEREAS, the MPO will disburse competitive grant funding to local governments
based on applications submitted; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac desires to provide a safe connectivity between city
facilities, schools, shopping areas, residential areas and the Broward County Greenway
system by establishing an integrated bikeway/walkway system throughout the City, and
WHEREAS, the project is expected to aid in City's Strategic Goal #5, "A Vibrant
Community", which states, "The City of Tamarac will provide resources, initiatives and
opportunities to continually revitalize our community and preserve the environment", and
WHEREAS, the proposed project supports current efforts to enhance multi -modal
transportation, wellness and recreational opportunities throughout Tamarac, and is

consistent with the transportation element of the City of Tamarac's Parks and Recreation
and Social Services Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac supports the City of
Sunrise's application for the NW 94th Avenue Bike Lane Project to provide connectivity
between the existing bike lane projects along NW 94th Avenue between NW 44th Street and
NW 57th Street, to provide connectivity to Westpine Middle School, Millennium Middle
School, and Challenger Elementary School, as well as nearby parks, a copy of the
proposed CSLIP Project location and description is attached hereto as "Exhibit 1" and is
incorporated herein and made a specific part of this Resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac supports the Florida Department of
Transportation's management of the design and construction of the proposed 94th Avenue
Bike Lane Project, if selected, on the City's behalf; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution
upon adoption hereof. All Exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a
specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission of the City of Tamarac does HEREBY
support the City of Sunrise's submission of an application to the Metropolitan Planning

Organization for funding of the NW 94th Avenue Bike Lane Project for its FY2019/2020
Complete Streets and Other Localized Initiatives Grant Program.
SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
