R-2014-ZI A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS TO PROVIDE FOR A CHARTER SCHOOL WITHIN CITY BOUNDARIES; PROVIDING. FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Commission believes that quality education is the cornerstone of America; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Commission believes that public education is key to maximizing the success and opportunities of individuals and the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has long envisioned the establishment of a high school within City boundaries as a means to provide additional education opportunities for City residents; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the issuance of a Request for Proposals to provide for the establishment of a Charter School on property owned and/or controlled by the City of Tamarac. Reso #12450 January 21, 2014 Page 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, THAT: SECTION 1: The foregoing `WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. All exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: The appropriate City Officials hereby authorized to prepare and issue a Request for Proposals to provide for the establishment of a Charter School on property owned and/or controlled by the City of Tamarac. SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
