CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2014-���6
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE 2015 JCC MACCABI
GAMES® AND ARTSFEST® WHICH SHALL BE HOSTED BY THE
DAVID POSNACK JCC AND WILL TAKE PLACE AUGUST 9-14,
2015 AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT BROWARD
COUNTY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the JCC Maccabi Games@ are an Olympic -style sporting
competition held each summer in North America and is the largest organized sports
program for Jewish teenagers throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, the JCC Maccabi ArtsFest® is a unique program for creative
Jewish teens
(ages 13-17)
who
have a strong
interest
in the arts and aims to inspire
participants
to develop
their
individuality
through
a dynamic combination of
workshops, exhibitions and showcase performances; and
WHEREAS, in addition to competitive and artistic events, the athletes and
artists also enjoy many fund evening social experiences by attending barbecues,
dance parties and visiting local attractions; and
WHEREAS, The David Posnack Jewish Community Center is honored to be
a host community and is looking forward to showcasing South Florida for the Games
33rd year as it will create a lasting legacy throughout South Florida and will also have
a positive economic boost for the community and most importantly, The Games® &
ArtSFest@ will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct, and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2:
The City Commission of the City of Tamarac hereby supports
the efforts of the David Posnack Jewish Community Center to host the 2015 JCC
Maccabi Games® and ArtsFest® and urges other Broward municipalities, the
Broward League of Cities, the School Board of Broward County, the Broward County
Commission and the Broward Legislative Delegation to support the 2015 JCC
Maccabi Games® & ArtsFest®.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk is hereby directed to provide a copiy of this
Resolution to the David Posnack Jewish Community Center.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
