R-2014-. / )- 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 4, 2014 GENERAL ELECTION FOR CITY COMMISSION DISTRICT 2AND THE OFFICE OF MAYOR -AT -LARGE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a General Election was held on November 4, 2014, wherein the electorate of the City of Tamarac elected one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 2 and one candidate for the Office of Mayor -at -Large; and WHEREAS, at the end of qualifying on June 20, 2014 the Commission Representative from District 4 had no opponent, therefore, Debra Placko was deemed elected to serve as the Commission Representative for District 4; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Canvassing Board has canvassed the results of the machine voting and absentee ballots and has certified such results to the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has reviewed the certification from the Broward County Canvassing Board and has presented their findings to the City Commission for a formal Certification and Declaration of the results; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to declare the results of the November 4, 2014 General Election for City Commission District 2 and the Office of Mayor -at -Large and to deem Debra Placko Commission Representative for District 4. Temp. Reso. #12578 October 28, 2014 Page 2 of 3 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative from District 2 at the General Election held November 4, 2014: Michelle J. Gomez 3,109 Stewart Jackson Weber 11390 SECTION 3: That Micheller J. Gomez , having received the highest number of votes cast is therefore declared to have been elected as Commission Representative, District 2, of the City of Tamarac for a term of four years. SECTION 4: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Mayor -at -Large at the General Election held November 4, 2014: Harry Dressler 10,644 Mike Gelin 61132 SECTION 5: That Harry Dressler, having received the highest number of votes cast is therefore declared to have been elected as Mayor -at -Large, of the City of Tamarac for a term of four years. SECTION 6: That Debra Placko, having run unopposed for Commission Representative for District 4 is deemed to be elected the Commission Representative for District 4 of the City of Tamarac for a term of four years. Temp. Reso. #12578 October 28, 2014 Page 3of3 SECTION 7: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 8: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 9: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
