No. 12478 April 9, 2014 Page 1 of 3 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO.2014 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE MAJOR ARTERIAL CORRIDOR STUDY ATTACHED AS EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in 2013, the City celebrated its 50th Anniversary; and WHEREAS, in the past fifty years, the City has transformed from a retirement community for part-time winter residents to a culturally diverse, community for all ages; and WHEREAS, the City has a commitment to improve transportation access for all users; and WHEREAS, to create a cohesive sense of place, there must be an improved sense of connection with the corridors and users; and WHEREAS, there are several major vehicular corridors that form the circuitry of the City, including Commercial Boulevard, University Drive, McNab Road and State Road 7; and WHEREAS, to address the changes in the community, and in continuance of the City's vision, mission and values, the City has conducted a Major Arterial Corridor Study (the "Study"), a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference; and WHEREAS, the Study examined various components of a roadway in order to establish a cohesive" aesthetic that translates into the community and improves the quality of life for residents of the City of Tamarac; and Temp. No. 12478 April 9, 2014 Page 2 of 3 WHEREAS, the Study identified a need for aesthetic improvements in the right- of-ways and existing overhead utilities; and WHEREAS, design initiatives including gateway treatments, gateway signage, streetscape treatments, hardscape and crosswalk treatments, and neighborhood buffer wall treatments, which when implemented, have the potential to create the unique identity and sense of place that the City and its residents are seeking; and WHEREAS, the City's professional staff has reviewed the Study attached hereto as Exhibit "A", and recommends the adoption of same; and WHEREAS, the adoption of the Study will benefit the health safety and welfare of the citizens and residents of the City; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac finds that it is in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City adopt the recommendations set forth in the Major Arterial Corridor Study. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are confirmed and ratified as being true and correct and are hereby incorporated herein. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida hereby adopts recommendations set forth in the Major Arterial Corridor Study, a copy of which is attached here as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference. Section 3. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Temp. Reso. No. 12478 April 9, 2014 Page 3 of 3 Section 4. If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. Section 5. and adoption.
