R2014Yq_ - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING EIGHT OR MORE MEMBERS TO THE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT OF A CHAIRPERSON TO THE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing eight or more members to the Veterans Affairs Committee; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall nominate a Chairperson, and said nominee shall be appointed by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, City of Tamarac Ordinance No. 0-2004-35 provides the method of appointment of members to the Veterans Affairs Committee; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint eight or pp 9 more members to the Veterans Affairs Committee to serve one-year terms expiring September 10, 2015. Reso. #12537 September 10, 2014 Page 2of3 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the following people are hereby appointed as members of the Veterans Affairs Committee to serve one-year terms expiring September 10, 2015, or until such time as reappointments are made: Harry Cohen William K. Mei Herbert Daley Veronica Palomino Ishman Davis Stanley Rosenzweig Dominic S. Gray Joseph Schvimmer Robert G. Horwith Benjamin F. Stephenson Murray A. Levine Howard A. Stermberg Sheldon Taylor SECTION 3: In accordance with Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code, the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall nominate a Chairperson, and said nominee shall then be appointed by the City Commission, to serve as Chairperson to the Veterans Affairs Committee for a one-year term. SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith .are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 5: Temp. Reso. #12537 September 10, 2014 Page 3 of 3 If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 16 day of September 2014.
