Reso. #12438 Page 1 December 2, 2013 ITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY PPOINTING MAXINE CALLOWAY IITY DEVELOPMENT, EFFECTIVE SUCH DATE AS IS MUTUALLY G FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING 'ROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE WHEREAS, the City Charter, Section 5.04(a) provides that the City Manager "shall appoint and supervise the heads of all departments and Assistant City Manager... subject to the approval of the majority of the Commission...."; and 1 WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Manager that Maxine Calloway be appointed as Director of Community Development, effective January 6, 2014, or at such date as is mutually agreed upon; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the City Manager's appointment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: Temp. Reso. # 12438 Page 2 December 2, 2013 SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. - All exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That on recommendation of the City Manager, attached hereto as Exhibit 1, Maxine Calloway is appointed as Director of Community Development, effective January 6, 2014 or at such date as is mutually agreed upon. SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. Cernech CITY MANAGER Pursuant to the City Charter, I recommend that Maxine Calloway be appointed to the position of Director of Community Development, effective January 6, 2014, or at such date as is mutually agreed upon. Ms. Calloway received a Bachelor's of Science degree from Bethune-Cookman College, and then participated in a joint degree program at the University of Florida where she received a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning and a Juris Doctorate. Ms. Calloway has over seventeen (17) years of experience in Planning, Zoning, Land Development, and Neighborhood Improvement. She has served the City of North Miami since 2004 as the Director of Community Planning & Development, where she developed and managed numerous programs. Previous to her employment with the City of North Miami she held several zoning and property acquisition positions in the private sector, and served in the position of City Planner for the cities of Hollywood and Pompano Beach. I am very pleased to recommend that Ms. Calloway be appointed to the position of Director of Community Development. I fully anticipate that she will be an asset to the organization and will bring a wealth of experience to the City of Tamarac.
