CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2012 - k
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA RECOGNIZING "TOGETHER WE SERVE
WEEK," OCTOBER 21-27, 20129 AND ENCOURAGING ALL
CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS TO SUPPORT AND TAKE PART IN
INCREASING VOLUNTEER EFFORTS WITHIN OUR
COMMUNITY; URGING ALL MUNICIPALITIES IN BROWARD
COUNTY TO RECOGNIZE "TOGETHER WE SERVE WEEK";
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO THE BROWARD COUNTY LEAGUE OF
CITIES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City of Tamarac ("City") and the Broward County League
of Cities ("Broward League") have made a commitment to increase volunteer
efforts throughout our communities; and
WHEREAS, "Together We Serve Week" is a very important time to
recognize the importance of volunteer efforts in our lives; and
WHEREAS, the Broward League and its member cities have joined
together to donate and encourage citizens to donate One Million Hours of their
time to worthwhile causes; and
WHEREAS, this week offers an important opportunity to spread the word
to all the citizens and residents of our county that they can make a difference in
our communities; and
WHEREAS, "Together We Serve Week" will be held in conjunction with
Florida City Government Week because both offer an important opportunity to
convey to all the citizens and residents of Broward County that they can make a
positive impact in our community through service and volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, City government is the form of government closest to our
citizens and with the most daily impact upon our residents, the City resolves and
pledges to join in this noble and necessary effort of additional volunteer service
to our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC THAT:
SECTION 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are true and correct and
hereby ratified and confirmed by the City Commission.
SECTION 2. That the City encourages all citizens, residents, city
government officials, and employees to do everything possible to ensure that this
week is recognized and participated in accordingly.
SECTION 3. That the City encourages volunteer partnerships between
city government and businesses, sports organizations, faith -based groups, civic
and charitable organizations, senior and neighborhood organizations, Greek
organizations, colleges, public/private schools, local media and others.
SECTION 4. That the City supports and encourages all city governments
to actively promote and sponsor "Together We Serve Week."
SECTION 5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Broward League.
SECTION 6. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith,
be and the same are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 7. If any clause, section or other part of this Resolution shall be
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, such

unconstitutional or invalid part shall be considered eliminated and will in no way
affect the validity of the other provisions of this Resolution.
SECTION 8. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COJJIMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA THIS DAY OF , 2012.
