RESOLUTION NO. R2012-j�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO EXTEND AN EXISTING
AGREEMENT WITH POSTAL CENTER INTERNATIONAL,
INC. FOR CITY-WIDE MAILING SERVICES, UTILIZING
SOUTHEAST FLORIDA GOVERNMENTAL PURCHASING
COOPERATIVE GROUP CONTRACT #785-9915, EFFECTIVE
OCTOBER 5, 2008,.THROUGH OCTOBER 4, 2013 OR AS
EXTENDED BY THE CITY OF FT. LAUDERDALE ON BEHALF
OF THE SOUTHEAST FLORIDA GOVERNMENTAL
PURCHASING COOPERATIVE; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the goal of the City of Tamarac is to streamline mailing service
operations by providing economical and efficient service to all City Departments; and
WHEREAS, the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group
through the City of Fort Lauderdale as lead agency, competitively solicited and entered into
an Agreement with Postal Center International, Inc. for a three-year period effective
October 5, 2008, through October 4, 2011, with an option to renew for one additional year
through October 4, 2012; and
WHEREAS, City Code §6-154 allows the Purchasing and Contracts Manager the
authority to join with other units of government in cooperative purchasing agreements when
the best interest of the City would be served; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission approved the purchase of city-wide mailing
services from Postal Center International, Inc. for a three-year period effective October 5,
2008 through October 4, 2011, with the option to renew for one additional year, utilizing the
Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative contract #785-9915 via
Resolution R-2008-134 at its September 24, 2008 meeting, a copy of such resolution is on
file with the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, the one year option to renew was exercised through October 4, 20122
as provided for under Resolution R-2008-134; and
WHEREAS, after conducting a market study, the City of Ft. Lauderdale, as lead
agency, and on behalf of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative has
extended the term of the Agreement through October 4, 2013, a copy of such extension
notice is included herein as Exhibit "1 "; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk and Purchasing and Contracts Manager recommends
that the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac, Florida will be
served by extending the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative contract
#785-9915 with Postal Center International, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Postal Service International, Inc. has agreed to continue to extend the
terms of the South Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Agreement #785-9915
through October 4, 2013, as evidenced by the correspondence attached hereto as Exhibit
"2"; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in

the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to extend said
agreement with Postal Center International, Inc. utilizing the Southeast Florida
Governmental Purchasing Cooperative contract #785-9915 for providing city-wide mailing
services through October 4, 2013, or as further extended by the City of Ft. Lauderdale on
behalf of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION L The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are HEREBY ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution
upon adoption hereof and all exhibits referenced and attached hereto are incorporated
herein and made a specific part of this resolution..
SECTION 2: That the appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to extend the
purchase of city-wide mailing services with Postal Center International, Inc. utilizing the
Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Contract #785-9915, effective
October 5, 2008 through October 4, 2013, or as further extended by the City of Ft.
Lauderdale on behalf of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this

Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.

The extension of the contract noted above was approved at the City Commission
Conference meeting on .duly 10, 2012, Item M-26. The revised contract expiration -date
will be October 4, 2013.
All terms, condittons and specifications of this contract will remain in effect during the

RE: Agreement Renewal - Presort Mailing Services City of Tamarac

Dear Mr.Diaz:
The City Commission of the City of Tamarac entered into an Agreement with your firm for Presort
Mailing Services for the City of Tamarac, based on the City of Ft. Lauderdale Contract #785-
9915. We have been utilizing this Agreement since it was originally awarded to you by the City of �
Ft. Lauderdale. The current Agreement is set to expire on October 4, 2012.
The City's most recent award resolution, dated September 24, 2008, authorized the contract term
through October 4, 2011, and further provides for one (1) additional one (1) year renewal, subject
to renewal of your agreement by the City of Ft. Lauderdale. Since the City of Ft. Lauderdale has
reneged their Agreement through October 4, 2013, 1 am requesting your acceptance for the
renewal of the subject contract for the City of Tamarac as well.
If you are agreeable, please sign and return a copy of this letter to my attention. You may scan
and e-mail the letter to keith. latz tamarac.or , or fax it to (954) 597-3565. I would also ask
that you provide the City with updated Certificates of Insurance showing the City of Tamarac as
an additional insured.
