CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. 2011- 07
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING
RESOLUTION R-2008-92; AMENDING THE SERVICE
FEES FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida adopted
Resolution No. R-2008-92 on June 25, 2008 establishing service fees for Emergency
Medical Services, including fees for its ambulance services, and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the
Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services has amended its billing requirements, from
allowing a provider to bill for mileage by rounding up to the next full mile, to instead
requiring exact mileage to the nearest tenth of a mile; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to amend its service fees to authorize
billing on a fractional mile basis for claims with dates of service on and after January 1,
2011; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief and the Director of Finance recommend the adoption
of the amended fees as provided herein; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Florida deems it to be in the best
interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to amend the Fire Rescue
Emergency Medical Services fees.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed
as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, hereby amends
Resolution No. R-2008-92 to authorize billing for emergency transport services on a
fractional mile basis for claims with dates of service on and after January 1, 2011 as
follows:
EMS
BLS Emergency Transport $600.00
ALS Emergency Transport $650.00
ALS2 Emergency Transport $700.00
Per Mile (Rounded to the nearest tenth of a_mile') $ 10.00
Non Emergency Patient Assist (after 3 in a six month period) $ 75.00
For all Medicare billing, rounding shall be to the nearest tenth of a mile. For all others
billing shall continue to be rounded to the nearest mile until such time as the insurance
industry standard modifies their billing_ requirements.
Section 3. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
Section 5. Upon its passage and adoption this Resolution shall become effective
nun pro tune January 1, 2011.
