CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2011 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO TAKE THE
NECESSARY STEPS TO SUBMIT A NON-PROFIT
APPLICATION TO THE APPROPRIATE STATE AND
FEDERAL AGENCIES ON BEHALF OF THE PARKS AND
RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO CREATE A NOT -FOR -
PROFIT CORPORATION KNOWN AS THE TAMARAC
PARKS AND RECREATION FOUNDATION; DESIGNATING
SAID FOUNDATION AS AN ENTITY SEPARATE FROM THE
CITY OF TAMARAC; DESIGNATING THAT FUNDS RAISED
BY THE TAMARAC PARKS AND RECREATION
FOUNDATION BE USED TO ENCOURAGE THE
ADVANCEMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
PROGRAMS, SERVICES AND FACILITIES IN THE CITY OF
TAMARAC; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in seeking alternative funding sources the City of Tamarac has
determined that a need exists to apply for grants in the area of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the City intends to utilize said grants for non-profit Parks and
Recreation programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac wishes to create a non-profit foundation to promote
and encourage the advancement of parks and recreation opportunities in Tamarac through
the solicitation and administration of funds on behalf of the City to assist educational,
recreational and cultural ventures; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Parks and Recreation for the
City of Tamarac to create a non-profit foundation known as the Tamarac Parks and
Recreation Foundation to solicit and administer funds resulting in the advancement of
Parks and Recreation opportunities in the City of Tamarac; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be
in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to create a non-
profit foundation known as the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Foundation to administer
funds resulting in the advancement of Parks and Recreation opportunities in the City of
Tamarac.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing Whereas clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution upon adoption
hereof. All exhibits attached hereto are hereby incorporated herein by this reference.
SECTION 2: The appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to take the
necessary steps to submit a non-profit application to the appropriate State and Federal
agencies on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department to create a not -for -profit
corporation known as the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Foundation.
SECTION 3: That the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Foundation shall be an entity
that is separate, independent and autonomous from the City of Tamarac and is not
intended to exist or be construed as an agency or arm of the City of Tamarac.
SECTION 4: That funds raised by the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Foundation
are intended to be used to encourage the advancement of Parks and Recreation
programs, services and facilities in the City of Tamarac.
SECTION 5: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 7: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
