RESOLUTION NO. R-2011 56
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING RATES FOR
WATER AND WASTEWATER SERVICES, ESTABLISHING
RATES FOR DEPOSITS AND ESTABLISHING RATES FOR
SERVICES INCIDENTAL TO THE OPERATION OF THE
CITY'S UTILITY SYSTEM; REPEALING RESOLUTION R-
2003-199; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac operates and maintains public water and
wastewater facilities that provide service to certain properties located in the City of
Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, Chapter.22 of the City of Tamarac Code of ordinances authorizes the
establishment of rates incidental to the operation of the City's public utility system by
resolution after a duly noticed public hearing; and
WHEREAS, on May 11, 2011, the City Commission held a public hearing to
consider the adoption of the rates applicable to the City's public utility system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution
upon adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: The rate schedule set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto and
incorporated herein, shall be applicable to all customers of the Water and Wastewater

Utility served by the City of Tamarac, effective June 1, 2011.
SECTION 3: Resolution R-2003-199 is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective on June 1, 2011.

D. Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC) Charges
a. In addition to the physical connection to and the installation of a meter for the
determination of consumption for both the water and sewer system, the City shall charge
a connection charge which represents the capital facility cost of the water and sewer
system capacity utilized by the new connection.
b. The capital cost of the water and sewer capacity is calculated on an Equivalent
Residential Connection (ERC) basis, which is defined as the maximum demand of three
hundred fifty (350) gallons per day (GPD) which equates to the demand for a single
family dwelling unit. Meter size shall comply with the requirements of the Florida Building
Code.
c. The ERC factors to be utilized for the determination of the connection charges are based
on user classification and shall be as follows:

Exception: If a connection serves living units such as a hotel, motel or time-share with
efficiency units that include a kitchen or kitchenette and/or laundry facilities, then the
connection charge shall be the higher of the fee from the meter size schedule above or
the number of dwelling units based on the multiple -family ERC equivalent.
d. Future dumpster connections to sanitary sewer system shall pay CIAC sewer charges
based on each dumpster being one (1) ERC,

t1) Normal Business Hours are from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
(2) Jumper Charge is charge for establishing a connection from the City's water line to the homeowner's water line bypassing the
meter.
(3) Tampering Charge will be applied when it has been determined that a shut-off or locked meter has been tampered with and
turned back on.
C. Customers outside the Corporate Limits of the City received service shall, in addition to
the rates established above, be charged a surcharge of twenty-five percent (25%) on
water charges only.
