CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2009- 06,
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, URGING THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR BROWARD COUNTY,
THE BROWARD COUNTY AVIATION DEPARTMENT, AND
THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION TO PROVIDE
OR ARRANGE TO PROVIDE EXPANDED AIR TRAVEL
SERVICE BETWEEN THE FORT LAUDERDALE—
HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND THE CITY
OF TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA; DIRECTING THE CITY
CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR
BROWARD COUNTY, THE BROWARD COUNTY AVIATION
DEPARTMENT, THE FEDERAL AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION, AND ALL MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN
BROWARD COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR SEVERASILITY;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Fort Lauderdale -Hollywood International Airport (hereinafter
referred to as the "Airport") provides a certain amount of daily service between the South
Florida area and the City of Tallahassee; and
WHEREAS, the State capital, Tallahassee serves as the center of State government
and as an economic hub of North Florida; and
WHEREAS, during certain times of the year, particularly when the State Legislature
is in session, there is a significantly increased demand for travel between South Florida
and Tallahassee; and
WHEREAS, the Airport provides frequent service between South Florida and a
number of cities throughout the State, including Tampa and Orlando; and
WHEREAS, The City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida (hereinafter

referred to as the "City") finds that increased air travel between South Florida and
Tallahassee will serve to keep citizens and residents throughout the State better connected
and provide greater access for those individuals involved with the intrastate political and
business communities; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission further finds that increased air travel options
between the Airport and the City of Tallahassee is in the best interests of the citizens and
residents of the City, Broward County, and the entire State of Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission hereby urges the Board of County
Commissioners for Broward County, the Broward County Aviation Department, and the
Federal Aviation Administration to provide or arrange to provide expanded airtravel service
between the Fort Lauderdale -Hollywood International Airport and the City of Tallahassee
SECTION 3: The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a copy of
this Resolution to the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, the Broward
County Aviation Department, the Federal Aviation Administration, and all municipalities
located within Broward County.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
