R-2009- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING FLOYD BASS AS LEGISLATIVE AIDE TO COMMISSIONER PAMELA BUSHNELL; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Chapter 2, "Administration", Article II "City Commission", Section 2-32 "Legislative Aides" of the City Code of the City of Tamarac allows for the appointment of legislative aides to assist in compiling background information on subjects of concern to the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the legislative aides shall be residents of the City, shall serve without monetary remuneration, and shall serve at the pleasure of the nominating Commissioner upon approval of the majority of the Commission; and WHEREAS, the legislative aides may not hold elected office or be a City employee, or be appointed as legislative aide to more than one Commissioner; and WHEREAS, Commissioner Pamela Bushnell has requested that Floyd Bass be appointed as one of her legislative aides; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint Floyd Bass as legislative aide to Commissioner Pamela Bushnell 1 Temp. Reso #11706 October 8, 2009 Page 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: Floyd Bass is hereby appointed as a legislative aide to Commissioner Pamela Bushnell, with a term expiring November 6, 2012. SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
