CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2008-__0
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING REQUESTS FROM
THE TAMARAC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR IN -KIND
SUPPORT AND TO WAIVE ALL FEES FOR THE TASTE OF
TAMARAC EVENT TO BE HELD AT THE TAMARAC
COMMUNITY CENTER ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2008,
FROM 11:30 A.M. TO 3:30 P.M.; AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO PERMIT THE
TAMARAC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND/OR DESIGNEE
TO SERVE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT THE TASTE OF
TAMARAC EVENT; PROVIDING FOR PERMITS, PROPER
INSURANCE AND EXECUTION OF HOLD HARMLESS
AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has received a request from the
Tamarac Chamber of Commerce to waive all fees, and for certain in -kind support services
for their Taste of Tamarac event to be held at the Tamarac Community Center on
Saturday, October 25, 2008, from 11:30 a.m, to 3:30 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization and
requests waiver of all fees for the Taste of Tamarac event; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce to provide
alcoholic beverages at the Taste of Tamarac event; and
WHEREAS, in Section 15-88 (a) of the City of Tamarac Code, it states that a permit
for the consumption or sale of alcoholic beverages at group functions must be obtained
from the City Commission; and

WHEREAS, the selling of alcoholic beverages is subject to regulations of the State
of Florida Department of Regulations, Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, wishes to continue to support the
Chamber of Commerce for this community event; and
WHEREAS, the City's Risk Management Division will ensure the appropriate levels
of liability insurance coverage for this event are submitted to the City; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation recommends that a permit be
granted to the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce and/or designee to serve alcoholic
beverages at the Taste of Tamarac event, approval of the request to waive all fees, and for
the City of Tamarac to provide certain in -kind support services for the Taste of Tamarac
event to be held October 25, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that a permit be
granted to the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce and/or designee to serve alcoholic
beverages at the Taste of Tamarac event, to approve the request to waive all fees, and for
the City of Tamarac to provide certain in -kind support services for the Taste of Tamarac
event to be held October 25, 2008; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.

SECTION 2: That the request to permit the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce and/or
designee to serve alcoholic beverages at the Taste of Tamarac event, the request to waive
all fees, and for the City of Tamarac to provide certain in -kind support services as listed
below for the Taste of Tamarac event to be held October 25, 2008, is HEREBY

• Waiver of Community Center room rental fees (Gymnasium, Aerobics Room and
Ballroom)
•
Use of the Parks and Recreation Department stage
•
Use of driveway in front of the Community Center for the antique car show
•
Advertisement of the Taste of Tamarac event on the marquee in front of the
Community Center one week prior to the event
•
Continuous shuttle transportation from up and down 57th Street on the day of the
event from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with pick up points at several spots along
57th Street
•
Placement of Taste of Tamarac �arking and shuttle pick up point signs on the
easement of 57th Street from 79t Avenue to Pine Island Road
•
Fire Inspector call out
•
Assistance in event operations from the Special Events and Parks Divisions
•
City electrician to be scheduled to work on the day of the event to address any
electrical issues
•
Tamarac Water (50 cases) to be distributed to patrons on the day of the event
•
Assistance in event activities from the Tamarac Teen Club
•
City showcase area featuring departments and services of interest to the general
public
•
Permission to park on the easement on N.W. 57th Street
•
Permission to place signs and banners around the City ten (10) days prior to the
event (all signs to be removed by Sunday, October 26th, 12:00 noon)
•
Recycling bins for the discarded water bottles and cans

SECTION 3: That approval is subject to all other appropriate permits being obtained
prior to the event and that proper insurance coverage and an executed Hold Harmless
Agreement is provided to the City prior to the event in a form acceptable to the City's
Risk/Safety Manager.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
