CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R2008-/91�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING LEGISLATION OR
FUNDING FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PROGRAMS THAT
PROVIDE ENHANCED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
THAT REDUCE THE ADVERSE IMPACT OF THE USE OF FOSSIL
FUELS ON THE ENVIRONMENT; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK
TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE
GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA, THE PRESIDENT OF
THE STATE OF FLORIDA SENATE, THE SPEAKER OF THE
STATE OF FLORIDA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
BROWARD COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION, THE
FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES, THE BROWARD LEAGUE OF
CITIES, THE BROWARD COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, AND ALL MUNICIPALITIES LOCATED
WITHIN BROWARD COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac City Commission ("City") recognizes the
importance of public transportation programs, that are accessible to all citizens;
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the United State Government, as part of
an economic stimulus program, will provide funding for public transportation
programs throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to express its support for
legislation and funding at both the national and state levels that places a priority
on public transportation programs that will provide enhanced access to public

transportation, as well as a reduction in the use of fossil fuels, thereby reducing
the emission of carbon dioxide and other gases that have a negative impact on
our environment; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission supports enhanced public transportation
alternatives, including light rail and other fixed rail options, in addition to
legislation and programs that demonstrate a heightened awareness and contain
goals to lessen the "carbon footprint" occasioned by the increased used of fossil
fuels and petro-chemicals for transportation; and
WHEREAS, by providing for the funding and development of enhanced
public transportation programs, the United States government and the State of
Florida can provide employment for many individuals who are currently out of
work as a result of the recent economic crisis; and
WHEREAS, by providing enhanced public transportation programs that
are accessible to all citizens, the federal and state governments will be able to
reduce emission of carbon dioxide and other gases that have a negative impact
on our environment, and provide employment for individuals who are currently
out of work; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it
to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City to support
legislation and/or funding for enhanced public transportation alternatives.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are confirmed and ratified
as being true and correct and are hereby incorporated herein.
Section 2. That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida
hereby urges the Governor of the State of Florida and the State of Florida
Legislature to support legislation and additional funding from either the United
States or the State of Florida to provide for enhanced public transportation
programs and alternatives that will reduce the use of fossil fuels, thereby reducing
the emission of carbon dioxide and other gases that have a negative impact on our
environment, and to provide employment opportunities for those individuals who
are currently out of work.
Section 3. The City Commission hereby directs the City Clerk to transmit
a copy of this resolution to the Florida Governor Charlie Crist, the President of the
Florida Senate, the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, the Broward
County Legislative Delegation, the Florida League of Cities, the Broward League of
Cities, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, and all municipalities
located within Broward County.
Section 4. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 5. If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
or applications of this Resolution.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
