RESOLUTION NO. R-2008-3
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING REQUESTS FROM
CHALLENGER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND MILLENNIUM
MIDDLE SCHOOL FOR IN -KIND SUPPORT FOR THEIR
MULTI -CULTURAL FESTIVAL EVENT TO BE HELD AT
CHALLENGER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND MILLENNIUM
MIDDLE SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2008, FROM 6:00
P.M. TO 8:30 P.M.; PROVIDING FOR PROPER INSURANCE;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has received a request from the
principal of Challenger Elementary School for certain in -kind support services for the
Challenger Elementary School and Millennium Middle School Multi -Cultural Festival event
to be held at Challenger Elementary School and Millennium Middle School on Friday, May
16, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, wishes to support the Challenger
Elementary School and Millennium Middle School for this community event; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation recommends approval of the
provision of certain in -kind support services for the Challenger Elementary School and
Millennium Middle School Multi -Cultural Festival event to be held May 16, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the request
for the provision of certain in -kind support services for the Challenger Elementary School

and Millennium Middle School Multi -Cultural Festival event to be held May 16, 2008.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the request for the provision of certain in -kind services as listed
below for the Challenger Elementary School and Millennium Middle School Multi -Cultural
Festival event to be held at Challenger Elementary School and Millennium Middle School
on Friday, May 16, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., is HEREBY APPROVED:
• Tamarac water (15 cases) for the participants of the event
• Assistance in the coordination and logistics of the Multi -Cultural Dinner (income
from the Multi -Cultural Dinner will be paid 100% to Challenger Elementary
School)
• Coordination and organization of the Multi -Cultural Craft Show by the City of
Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department (Income from craft show vendor
registration will be paid 100% to the City)
• Assistance in event operations from the Special Events Division on the night of
the event, Friday, May 16, 2008, from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
• Assistance in set up and breakdown from Tamarac Teen Club
• Assistance from 10 City volunteers on the day of the event
• Use of the Electronic Billboards to publicize the event starting on May 11, 2008
• Recycling bins for the discarded water bottles and cans
SECTION 3: That insurance coverage in a form and amount acceptable to the
City's Risk/Safety Manager be provided to the City before the event.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
