CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2008- d
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA TO APPROVE
THE DONATION OF SURPLUS "HEATER MEAL
TWO, MEALS -READY -TO -EAT" (MRE) TO THE
AGING AND DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER IN
SUNRISE FLORIDA, AND THE DISPOSAL OF
THOSE PACKAGES WHICH HAVE EXPIRED;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac seeks opportunities to assist those in need in
our Community and in the surrounding cities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Fire Rescue has a large surplus inventory of
Heater Meal Two (Meals -Ready -To -Eat) leftover from Hurricane Wilma supplies; and
WHEREAS, it is not likely that we will have an opportunity to make use of the
product before their shelf life expires in June 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac wishes to donate this valuable commodity to an
entity needing such a resource and to dispose of those packages already past their
expiration date; and
WHEREAS, Edith Shaffer-Lederberg, Aging and Disability Resource Center,
located at 5300 Hiatus Road, Sunrise, FL has expressed a need for this product and a
desire to receive the entire supply to help the Aging and Disability Resource Center
assist elders in our community and those in the surrounding cities; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Fire Rescue, Chief Budzinski, recommends the
donation of this product to the Aging and Disability Resource Center; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be
in the best interest of the citizens to donate the surplus Heater Meal Two Meals -Ready -
To -Eat to the Aging and Disability Resource Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission authorizes the donation of our surplus supply
of Heater Meal Two Meals -Ready -To -Eat to the Aging and Disability Resource Center,
and the disposal of those packages which have already expired.
SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
