A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZII` SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO " HOMELAND SECURITY THE DEPARTMENT OF EMERGEN FLORIDA STATE EMERGENCY SUB -GRANT PROGRAM FUN[ EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEi SUPPLIES, TRAINING AND PROM AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ACCEPTANCE OF THE AWAF DOCUMENTS UPON APPROVA PROVIDING FOR CONFLIC SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING WHEREAS, the City Commission of the emergency management capabilities within the and recovery; and Temp Reso. #11399 Page 1 April 29, 2008 FLORIDA AMISSION OF THE CITY OF G THE CITY MANAGER TO HE US DEPARTMENT OF OUGH THE FLORIDA ;Y MANAGEMENT FOR RESPONSE TEAM (SER1) 1S FOR COMMUNITY ,M (CERT) EQUIPMENT, )TIONAL MATERIALS IN AN 20,000; PROVIDING FOR D AND EXECUTING OF OF THE APPLICATION; fS; PROVIDING FOR 'OR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. of Tamarac desires to improve in the fundamental areas of response WHEREAS, the US Department of Homeland Security provides emergency preparedness grants to local governments through the Florida Department of Emergency Management, Florida State Emergency Response Team (SER1) sub -grant program for projects serving to unite and prepare co through citizen corps; and WHEREAS, the City desires to provide equipment, supplies, training and promotional materials for Tamarac Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members; and WHEREAS, the City desires to provide trilingual information to residents for the purposes of emergency preparedness; and Temp Reso. #11399 Page 2 April 29, 2008 WHEREAS, acceptance of these grant funds requires the amending of estimated revenues and expenditures within the Grants Fund Budget; and WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the grant program that this Resolution be adopted and become an official part of the application; and WHEREAS, the Assistant City Manager and the Fire Chief recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to submit an application to the Florida Department of Emergency Management for Florida SERT sub -grant program funds for the provision of equipment, supplies, training and promotional materials for Tamarac CERT members, as well as trilingual emergency preparedness information for residents of the City of Tamarac. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are HEREBY ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are HEREBY made a specific part of this resolution. Section 2: The City Manager is HEREBY authorized to submit a Florida SERT sub - grant program application not to exceed $20,000 to the Florida Department of Emergency Management. A copy of said application is attached hereto as Exhibit A. Section 3: Upon approval of the application, the City Manager is HEREBY authorized to accept the award and execute the necessary documents following legal review and approval. Section 4: Upon approval of the grant award, the appropriate City Officials are HEREBY authorized to amend the Grants Fund Budget in an amount not to exceed $20,000 1 E and appropriate said funds including any and all accordance with proper accounting standards.
