RESOLUTION NO. R-2008—?c�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO
THE SERVICE FEES FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is providing services including, but not limited to, Basic Life
Support (BLS) Emergency Transport, Advanced Life Support (ALS) Emergency Transport,
Advanced Life Support 2 Emergency Transport, and Non Emergency Patient Assists in the City of
Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City Code Section 7-29(f) requires service fees to be established by
Resolution of the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, medical treatment and transportation services are provided by the Tamarac Fire
Rescue Department and the cost for each patient transported or served is established at a
reasonable and competitive rate; and
WHEREAS, Advanced Data Processing, Inc., the City's contractor for EMS Billing Services,
has evaluated the current fees and recommended increased fees based on the cost of service and
regional norms; and
WHEREAS, these fee increases will allow Tamarac to recover partial cost of BLS and ALS
transport services, consistent with other area providers and within those considered to be
reasonable and customary; and

WHEREAS, the Fire Chief and the Director of Finance recommend the adoption of the
amended fees effective July 1, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to amend the Fire Rescue
Emergency Medical Services fees commencing on July 1, 2008.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed
as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That Fire Rescue fees currently levied shall remain in place until the following
fees become effective and that Fire Rescue fees for Emergency Medical Services provided in the
City of Tamarac, effective July 1, 2008, shall be as follows:
EMS
BLS Emergency Transport $360-00-- 600.00
ALS Emergency Transport $400.00— 650.00
ALS2 Emergency Transport $600.00— 700.00
Per Mile $-7.26— 10.00
Non Emergency Patient Assist (after 3 in a six month period) $-60.00 75.00
SECTION 3: That all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
