RESOLUTION NO. R-2007- - _---
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY
OFFICIALS TO ACCEPT FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF
$3,217.72_FROM TAMARAC ATHLETIC FEDERATION, INC., TO
BE USED BY THE CITY OF TAMARAC FOR CONDUCTING
BACKGROUND CHECKS OF SPORT LEAGUE VOLUNTEERS
UPON THE DISSOLUTION OF THE TAMARAC ATHLETIC
FEDERATION BOARD; AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT OF THE
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT BUDGET TO
REFLECT THE FUNDING ACCEPTED FROM TAMARAC
ATHLETIC FEDERATION, INC.; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in May 2006, the Tamarac Athletic Federation (TAF) member leagues voted
unanimously to dissolve TAF including the TAF Board effective January 1, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department worked with the TAF
Board and member leagues to provide a smooth transition effective January 1, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the City's responsibilities in relation to assuming the duties of the TAF
Board includes, but is not limited to, background investigations which entails compiling all
volunteer forms from the leagues including the City consent forms, sending them to the hired
company, reading the results and communicating issues to the leagues and then filing them
internally; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac Athletic Federation, Inc., through its dissolution, has funds
remaining which it desires to provide to the City of Tamarac for use in conducting the
background checks of sport league volunteers in the first year the TAF Board responsibilities
are taken over by the City; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director recommends approval; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the
best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to accept funding from the
Tamarac Athletic Federation Inc., in the amount of $3,217.72, to be used by the City of Tamarac
for conducting background checks of sport league volunteers upon the dissolution of the
Tamarac Athletic Federation Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission of the City of Tamarac hereby accepts funding in
the amount of $3,217.72 from Tamarac Athletic Federation, Inc., to be used by the City of
Tamarac for conducting background checks of sport league volunteers upon the dissolution of
the Tamarac Athletic Federation Board.
SECTION 3: The appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to amend the Parks
and Recreation Department Budget upon passage and adoption of this resolution.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by
any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part of application, it shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of the Resolution.

SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
